UPCOMING - April 5th Plans for Grades 9-12
We have a special day coming up on April 5th, which will look different at each grade level! More information will be coming in the next month but we wanted to give you some information for planning with your students!
9th Graders: We are planning a blended learning day, in which our ninth graders will work from home on their core classes.
10th Graders: Our 10th grade students will come to school to take the Pre-ACT exam. The Pre-ACT is a great indicator for students to assess their preparedness for the ACT, which they will take in their junior year. You will receive more information in a letter that will be sent to your home soon.
11th Graders: The 11th grade students will take the ACT exam on this date. This is a very important exam for our students and we will do our best to create a supportive environment for our juniors to do their best on this exam. You will receive more information in a letter that will be sent to your home soon.
12th Graders: Our 12th graders will come to school on April 5th to participate in their next steps towards graduation. A variety of workshops will take place that involve college applications, FAFSA completion, apprenticeship search, postsecondary planning, financial aid advising, and more! We are excited to work with your seniors as they are moving quickly toward graduation this spring!

Transportation Update
Winter brings an expectation of extreme cold temperatures and/or heavy snow. The Fridley Transportation Department would like to share a few winter-weather transportation reminders with you that will help keep our students safe.
- Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the winter weather.
- Your child is required to be at the scheduled stop 5 minutes prior to bus pick-up time. We do not expect the student to stay at the stop any longer than 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Should the bus be late by more than 10 minutes, the student should go home and call the assigned bus company (see below).
- Information and updates on late busses are communicated through our messenger program, so please make sure that your contact information is accurate. You may log in to your Parent Portal account and update your email or phone number.
- If school buildings are closed due to severe weather, the district will communicate with families ahead of time through email, phone call, and will also post the announcement on the district website, local news channels and district social media.

NUTRITIONAL SERVICES UPDATES
FREE STUDENT MEALS AT FHS
Nutritional Services is providing free breakfast and lunch to all students this year according to the USDA waiver for the 2021-22 school year. Please encourage your student to try a new menu item or to eat meals with us. Menus can be found on the district web site and in this newsletter.
Please note that all students are required to take a 1/2 cup fruit or vegetable at breakfast and lunch per the USDA regulations. If your child just wants a milk to drink with their cold lunch, that has a cost of $0.55 and your student needs to have money in their lunch account. Students must also have money in their lunch account to purchase Ala Carte items at the Middle and High School. Cash or check can be turned into the school's main office or given to Kathy Backstrom in the District Office or paid online using a credit or debit card on the Campus app or website.
Even though breakfast and lunch are free this year, we still have families with an outstanding meal debit from previous school years. Please check your students lunch balance and it you have questions, please contact Kathy Backstrom at 763-502-5021.
