Jesse Boyd Elementary School~~~ August 25, 2018
Welcome to 2018-2019........ from Dr. Rose
We are super excited about the work that our students and teachers will accomplish this year and as always we are looking forward to another outstanding year at Jesse Boyd. If there is ever any issues, questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me anytime at mrose@spart7.org or call the school at 594-4430.
Dismissal
Just a couple of reminders:
-Be ready prior to being in the car line with all papers signed and book bags ready to depart the car. It's never too early to start teaching students to unbuckle and buckle themselves in each day.
-If at all possible, have students seated in the back passenger side of the car for easy exit and entrances into the car.
-No passing other cars unless instructed by a faculty member to do so.
-Pull all the way up to the next available cone when dropping off or picking up students.
-Keep music in car at a low volume level.
-For safety, please refrain from phone usage in the car line.
-Per District 7 policy, no smoking, even inside your car, on school grounds.
As a reference, SC has a new law for safety of children in cars. You can read that article from The State newspaper by clicking HERE.
As a reminder, it is best if you are changing the way your student is to get home that you send a note with the student to the child's teacher.
Additionally, students cannot be dismissed from the front office after 2pm for security and supervision issues.
If your student rides the bus or you would like to have your student on a bus, please be sure to call the bus office at 594-4423 for assistance.
Our walkers must cross at the cross walk. If you walk to pick up your student, meet them at the stop sign where the teachers will bring our students. We will not allow students to walk unattended in the parking lot to meet a parent/guardian. Students in 5K and 1st grade are not allowed to walk home alone. If a 5K or 1st grade student is to walk home with an older student, we will require a note from you giving your permission for this.
As a note, The HOA from the condos adjacent to JBE has contacted us and let us know that any cars parked in their home owner's parking spaces are subjected to being towed. We understand that the car line does take a few minutes to navigate, but it is the best manner of picking up students who are car riders. We do ask that our walker area be reserved for students who are actually walking home. We certainly do not want to put convenience above safety.
School Start and Dismissal Times
In order for a student to be counted for an entire school day, students must be in school by 11:00am or cannot be dismissed prior to 11:30am.
Due to safety and supervision, students are not dismissed from the main office after 2pm.
