PLC Health Update
December 2021
Covid-19 Activity Level Increases
Now that we are beginning to gather with friends and family during the holiday season, it is even more important to be mindful of our health and the health of our family members. Please monitor your children’s health and make sure that you keep them home from school if they exhibit any COVID-19 like symptoms. These symptoms include:
· Fever or chills
· Cough
· Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
· Fatigue
· Muscle or body aches
· Headache
· New loss of taste or smell
· Sore throat
· Congestion or runny nose
· Nausea or vomiting
· Diarrhea
If the symptoms persist, we recommend you have your child tested and inform the school nurse of the results. If you have any questions or concerns about symptoms, at any point, please call Nurse Bradley. Nurse Bradley can be reached at (856)378-5020 X-305 or linda.bradley@pinelandschool.org
Close Contact/Exposure Process for Students
In the last few weeks we have had some student Covid exposures at school and on the school bus. Anyone determined to be a close contact (exposure to a positive case) will be contacted immediately. Close contact students will be excluded from learning in school for a period of time based on the recommendations of the CDC and health department. In most cases we have put in place procedures and requirements that minimize the exposure. However, there are still some situations that are difficult to avoid.
If your child is a close contact of a positive case at Pineland, we will call you and inform you. Any student identified as a close contact will continue to learn in a virtual model through live stream lessons and teacher prepared assignments.
A close contact student who isn't fully vaccinated will need to be picked up from school and be excluded from the school building for usually 7-14 days. Our goal is to minimize disruptions to in-person learning. Our school nurse will inform you of the timeline, but here is what you need to know:
- Test between 5-7 days after the last contact/exposure with the positive case
- Inform the school nurse and submit documentation of negative test results from a health care provider to the school
- Our nurse will inform you when your child may return
Thank you for your understanding and support.
In School Testing Available
Before any on-site school testing can occur, parents must complete the Rover Labs consent form by accessing a link to a digital consent form or completing a form that is sent home with your child.
Here is the consent link:

You DO NOT need to provide your social security number or insurance information to be tested. When completing the consent form you can simply answer "no" to the insurance question and leave the SSN field blank.
