Patterson Elementary
Parent Blast - February 20 , 2018
New Technology!
We are excited to announce that our first Bond items have arrived- three new Chromebook carts full of computers! We are rolling these into classrooms this week and soon each of our grade levels 3-6 will have their own cart to share among their grade level classes. Grades 1 and 2 will be sharing a cart until the end of the school year and kindergarten will be receiving the iPad cart to use as a team. Students have been excited to see these new carts rolling into and around Patterson!
Last week we completed our Pennies for Patients campaign and exceeded our goal with $3,138.59! Winners and amounts raised will be announced at our assembly on Friday and pies will be thrown as promised, for meeting our school-wide goal of $2500.
This week we are kicking off our Boxtops Competition which will run through next Tuesday. Our school-wide goal is 1900 and if this goal is met, you guessed it, I will be seeing some silly string at our next assembly. Can you tell students like to see me get messy?
Finally, we hope to see all of you this Friday night at the annual Carnival and Auction beginning at 5:30. All are sure to have a great time!

REVIEW- Kindness Challenge
What? The Great Kindness Challenge is a proactive and positively powerful anti-bullying tool. The Great Kindness Challenge School is devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible while at school and at home. Using the provided checklist of 50 kind acts, students take the challenge and prove that bullying is weak and kindness is strength.
Why? All kids deserve to learn in a safe, supportive and dynamic environment. The Great Kindness Challenge provides a powerful tool that actively engages students, teachers, administration, families and community in creating a school culture of acceptance, tolerance, unity and respect. Simply put, we believe that KINDNESS is strength and has the power to change the world for GOOD!
Who? All students, grades K-6, are encouraged to participate. How? It’s easy! Patterson students will read, write, and talk about kindness. Staff will read stories about kind acts to their classes and share short videos that highlight kind actions and how they can transform someone's day or life. Students will work independently, in small groups or as a whole class to complete all 50 challenges.
When? February 12-28.
Where? The 50 kind acts are to be accomplished anytime in or out of school. Students are encouraged to continue sharing their kindness at home, in their communities and in our world. Students will post the number of kind acts completed at the end of the month on our Kindness Tree in the cafeteria.
