BIG NEWS! USDA extended the waiver that allows Thompson School District Nutrition Services to offer meals to ALL students AT NO CHARGE through June 30, 2022!!

Choice Enrollment
Dear Families:
Thompson School District’s Choice Enrollment period for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year will be arriving soon.
This year’s period will extend from Monday, November 29 through Friday, January 7. The process is designed for students who wish to attend a school outside of their attendance boundary.
Please note that significant adjustments have been made to this year's process. Families are encouraged to submit their application at any time during the Choice Enrollment period - All applications that are received will be entered into the district's lottery system.

Winter Sports Parent Meeting

Parents & Guardians, please plan to attend this mandatory meeting to gather key information about your son or daughter's sport for the winter. We will begin with a word from Athletic Director, Lauren Anderson, and then break out into groups by sport to hear from the coaches. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Daniels Scholarship Program is a great opportunity for athletes and other Colorado students that provides up to $100,000 for motivated students to earn a bachelor’s degree that helps them build a successful life and career. Daniels Scholars demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to serving their communities. Bill Daniels would also want his scholars to be proud Americans who value our free enterprise system and are prepared to give the world their best shot.
The Daniels Scholarship Program offers financial and personal support throughout college and can be used at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the United States.
The application deadline has been extended to Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. MST to accommodate students taking the SAT on November 6 and receiving their scores on November 19, and to provide additional time for students to receive ACT scores.

Substitute Teachers
School districts are continually facing substitute teacher shortages and our District continues to experience low teacher fill rates. As we move forward with finding creative ways to attract substitutes to our district, the following is information about the application process for TSD and criteria on becoming a substitute teacher.
A high school diploma or its equivalent and successful experience working with children are the qualifications to apply for a one-year substitute teacher authorization through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Below is information about our District and the link to apply for a substitute teacher license:

Qualifications
- One-Year authorization: A high school diploma or its equivalent AND successful experience working with children (valid statewide in any accepting school district, BOCES, charter or approved facility school)
- Three-Year authorization: A bachelor's or higher degree earned at a regionally accredited college or university
- Five-Year authorization: An active or expired Colorado teacher license (not special services, principal or administrator) OR an active teacher license issued by another state

Knowing IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) With Precision
Thursday November 18, 2021

Facilitate by Dr. Mary Anne Fleury
Dr. Fleury leads the alternative dispute resolution team with the Colorado Department of Education. As a skilled trainer and facilitator, Dr. Fleury will provide information for parents and staff to increase their knowledge about IDEA terminology and process. She will also discuss the important role of parents on the IEP team. Please RSVP here by Wednesday November 17, 2021 to attend this virtual session.
