Message from Mr. Lipson
Thank you all for your patience and support as we conclude
our 2 weeks of fully-remote instruction!
Cohort B students will be returning to school in-person on Monday, November 16th.
Cohort A students have done a fantastic job at home without a lot of their materials. Now that we are back in the building, we would like to schedule a Cohort A materials pickup.
This pickup will take place on Monday, November 16 from 2:30pm-4:30pm. We will be handing out student materials, like books, journals, and school photo packages. Please come to the back of the building near the gym and state your child's name and homeroom. Several staff members will be there to give you your child's materials.
If you have any questions, please email Mr. Lipson scott.lipson@motsd.org
Cohort Weeks
Helpful Reminders
- Please complete your child's COVID pre-screener through Real Time every day.
- Please be sure your child brings their laptop to school fully charged each day.
- Please send your child in with 2 clean masks each day.
- Please know that we take attendance in the morning, and mark whether or not students leave class early. If your child is having difficulty connecting to a class, please let your child's teacher know so we do not mark them absent.
- Please send your child to school with a water bottle.
- Please send in a note if your child is not being dismissed from school according to the original plan.
- Please remind your children to mute themselves when not speaking. It will help teachers present their material without competing sounds.
Thank you!!
Free & Reduced Lunch
Per N.J.A.C. 2:36-1.5(d), "Students are eligible for school meal benefits or free milk for
the school year and up to 30 operating days in the subsequent school year". As of
October 21 2020, all students who previously qualified for free and reduced lunch in the
2019-2020 school year that have not submitted a lunch application for the 2020-2021
school year, have been reset to "paid" status. Although this has no immediate
impact on any student because of the “free lunch for all”, when/if the” free lunch
for all” status is lifted, students will be required to pay for their meals (breakfast
and lunch) until an application has been received and processed.
To avoid an interruption in benefits please proceed to the Realtime Parent Portal to
either fill out an application otherwise, please indicate that you do not wish to apply at
this time. Please note that only ONE (1) application per FAMILY, is required to
determine qualification status.

Thank you to all those who donated clothes this weekend. We collected close to 300 bags. Thank you to Kristin Martin for organizing and a huge shout out to Gaby Ostrove for all your help. Without you and your muscles, I wouldn't have been able to do it! This all would not have been possible without the generosity of Mike and Centercourt of Mt Olive. Check them out for Ninja warrior classes and more!

Books Celebrate Diversity
Tinc Road has added books that celebrate diversity and explore the African-American experience. Classes will primarily read the books during morning meetings – a time devoted to social emotional learning which helps students develop self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills.
The books, chosen by each grade level team, underscore some of the messages discussed at a recent staff conference day. Before the school year began, Tyrone Howard, Ph.d, a best-selling author and renowned professor of education, discussed why race and culture matters in schools. That presentation inspired second grade teacher Laura Iacampo to find a way to bring discussions about race and diversity to the classroom during the morning SEL time. She saw a selection of appropriate Scholastic Books and asked the school's parent teacher organization to fund the purchase.
"Character education has been a key part of our curriculum for years," Iacampo said. "As educators, we always try to encourage students to embrace and love our differences. We need to understand and appreciate each other cultures so that we can come together as one big beautiful family. I want thank the PTO for supporting this initiative and so many others during the school year."
Selected books include both fiction and non-fiction titles. Among them are "Through My Eyes," an autobiographic account by civil rights icon Ruby Bridges of her experience as the first Black student to enter an all-white school, and "We've Got A Job" about the famed 1963 Birmingham Children's March.
Other storybooks include "Be You" by "The Dot" author Peter Reynolds and "New Kid," a winner of a Newbery Medal for excellence in children's literature and a Coretta Scott King Author Award. "New Kid" tells the tale of a seventh-grader who enters a prestigious private school and is one of only a few students of color there. "All Are Welcome," written for younger children, depicts a school where kids from a variety of backgrounds learn from each other and celebrate each other's traditions.
