Email Frustrations: Resolved!
We are fairly certain that our issues are now resolved; please let us know right away if you are missing any emails from this point forward. We'll collectively keep our fingers crossed that the technology will behave properly, and in the meantime... there's always smoke signals! Thanks!
NEW DATE: Ice Cream Social on Friday, 9/6
Mark your calendars for this fun event!
Field Park 5K - Volunteers Needed!
A few quick reminders from our fantastic "Field Park 5K" organizers: Please reach out to Michelle Boyd at mmboyddc@gmail.com with any questions. We hope to see you all there!
Hillgrove Avenue: Village Well Construction Site
Here are a few important details:
- The sidewalk along Hillgrove Avenue will be CLOSED from the start of school through the completion of the project this fall.
- The construction fence will remain completed and closed throughout the duration of the project, and construction crews will do their best to work around our heavy foot-traffic hours (morning drop-off, lunchtime, afternoon pick-up) as they enter/exit the site.
- Any toys/sports equipment that goes over the fence will stay there.
- While the construction and drilling is noisy outside, there is little impact within the building. Even our 3rd grade classrooms and the STEM room are quiet!
- Please have conversations early and often with your children about choosing a safe route to school around the site, and about being aware of the construction site during the day. We will also have these safety conversations at school!
Doodle Art and Design Class
General Updates
- Drivers: Please remember that you may only drive one way (north) on Howard Avenue before/after school and at the start/end of lunch (11:40 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.). In order to alleviate traffic problems, you are encouraged to drop off/pick up your child(ren) in the Ellington cul de sac behind the school. It’s faster, especially during inclement weather, and there is a sidewalk that extends from the school to the cul de sac. Please do not park your car in front of the school and then leave it. This creates congestion and may prevent a bus from pulling up to the curb. As soon as your child safely exits your vehicle, drive away carefully (please use your blinker) so other parents may drop off their child.
- Bus Schedule: Parents of grades 1-5 students have already been contacted by Mrs. Blum regarding any changes to last year’s bus schedule; please email her at cblum@d101.org if you have any new changes. New parents: please confirm any bus details with Mrs. Blum at our August 22 meeting (see "New Parents" section, below).
- Medications: Please note that medications must be delivered to school by a parent and be labeled properly. Please notify the office of any changes to your child’s health status during the year even if no medication is needed. If you have questions, please email Mrs. Joan Krillic (jkrillic@d101.org) or Mrs. Michelle Pusatera (mpusatera@d101.org), our school nurses.
- Administrative Assistants Contact Info: Please note that the wonderful Mrs. Cindy Blum will be returning to our front office this year in a part-time capacity; she will be sharing the role with the lovely Mrs. Cathy Berg, who we know and love from our lunch program. To contact our front office via email, please continue to email Mrs. Blum at cblum@d101.org -- Mrs. Berg will have access to that email account, as well, to ensure smooth communication.
New Parents (REPEAT FROM 7/31 UPDATE)
A reminder: on Thursday, August 22 at 6:00pm in the Field Park library you are invited to attend a meeting about details associated with the start of school. This will be a chance for you to learn all about Field Park School, to ask questions, etc. This meeting is intended for parents only; if you would like to arrange a time for your student to swing by and get to know the school a bit better, please reach out!
