Husky Happenings Week of August 30
It's That Time!! Welcome Back to School!! We look forward to seeing our 1st-5th graders on Wednesday and our K students on September 5. We have one big calendar change already. The last day of school has been moved from June 11 to June 12. Primary elections are taking place in April and since schools are polling places, school is closed that day. An updated calendar is below.
There will be lots of forms coming home the first week of school. Please watch for a photo form, a digital use form relating to student chromebook use, and a sign off indicating that you have reviewed the Coventry Student Handbook, which you can find on the school web page, but it's also linked here.
Very important the first few days of school, is that we know how your child is getting home. Please send a note to the teacher if, for example, you are picking up the first day but your child is generally a bus student. You may give your child very clear directions in the morning but by the end of a very busy first day, children sometimes can't remember those directions. If your child is in 3rd-5th grade only, and you give your permission for your child to walk home, walk to your car in the lot, or walk to your car on the road, those forms will go home the first day. I will also attach them to the email that has the newsletter link.
If your child received free/reduced lunch last year, you must resubmit that form by October 1, in order to avoid charges. More on this to come but the Sodexo link below will have information to complete the free/reduced form as well as adding money to your child's My School Bucks account. If you are direct cert by the state, just send in a copy of that letter.
And, finally, here are some links that might be helpful as we start the year:
We are looking forward to working with you and your children!
In Other News...
Hopkins Hill Food Pantry: Hopkins Hill operates a food pantry throughout the school year. As part of this operation, we provide biweekly grocery deliveries from food pantry supplies to any family that might be having a difficult time. All food pantry inquiries are confidential. You can call me or Nurse Deb if you are interested. We also do a food drive in fall, so please watch for those flyers if you would like to help with donations. More information to come.
Breakfast and Lunch: The new menus are not up, yet, but this is where they will be when available. If your child is receiving free/reduced lunch, please you must submit a new application before October 1 of the new school year in order to avoid interruption of service. You can do this electronically by visiting the link: FOOD SERVICE INFORMATION and MY SCHOOL BUCKS
News From Nurse Deb: Nurse Deb created a slide deck with Health Information for 2023-2024. Click the link and it will bring you right to the presentation.
