BEAR CREEK BLAST
October 15th - October 18th
No Excuses University @ Bear Creek
CogAT Testing
Dear Parents of 2nd & 5th grade students,
Bear Creek will administer the CogAT test to students in grades 2 & 5 during the testing window of October 15-26, 2019.
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) appraises the level and pattern of cognitive development of students. The test measures both general and specific reasoning abilities. These abilities are assessed in three domains: verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal. The CogAT measures developed abilities, not innate abilities. Because these abilities are closely related to an individual’s success in school in virtually all subjects, test results may be used in planning effective instructional programs. In combination with other relevant information about a student, scores can be used to adapt instruction in ways that enhance the student’s chances of success in learning.
Fifth grade will test Tuesday, October 15, 2019 - Friday, October 18, 2019. Second grade will test Monday, October 21, 2019 - October 25, 2019.
We will administer this test in a manner that causes the least amount of disruption to the learning environment. With your support, we will gather important assessment data enabling us to make more informed instructional decisions for your child.
Red Ribbon Week 2019 - October 28 through November 2
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated every year during the last week of October. Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized substance abuse prevention campaign dedicated to the memory of Kiki Camerena, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent, killed in the line of duty.
