Mrs. Krajewski's Second Grade Scoop

What's Going On?
What a wonderful concert that the kids performed. Mr. Boucher did a great job preparing the kids. They looked great and sounded wonderful. Please make sure to cherish these moments as they do not last forever! In my case I had to drive 7 hours to attend my daughter's concert in college. It was worth every minute of it!
Everyone knows this is a very busy time of year. Although it is busy, it is my favorite season! Please try to make sure the kids routines stay on track and they are still getting their sleep. No one wants to have sick children for the holidays!
Our holiday party will be Tuesday, December 23rd from 2:00-2:50. Mrs. Payne sent out a sign up so please make sure to check it out. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
Chapter 5 is a very unique because it very heavy on vocabulary. This geometry unit is very fun, but can be challenging due to the dependency on vocabulary. Our pretest results showed very few children were secure in these concepts. We are planning to complete this unit before break.
Map, globes, cardinal directions, and the continents and oceans is topic we are studying. It amazes me each year that the kids truly enjoy learning learning this real world unit!
Reading and Writing Connection
The realistic fiction unit provides a perfect opportunity to connect character development in reading at the same time as our writing. We are learning how characters change throughout a story. We can use strategies to show details about our characters. We call it show not tell.
