Welcome to the new format of the Navigator Newsletter!! The newsletter will be now have three sections:

  • Information pertinent to ALL families
  • Information specific ONLY to Virtual Classroom
  • Information specific ONLY to F2F Classroom

We appreciate your understanding as we work to provide the best communication possible to all our families.

Counseling Corner

Second Semester Schedules

Second semester schedules in PDF format will be available at midnight on January 28 in your student's My eBackpack. Instructions on accessing My EBackpack can be found HERE. Staff and teachers will be available to assist students on Monday, February 1st. If you have questions about your child's schedule, please contact their counselor on February 1st.

Scheduling for the 2021-2022 school year is upon us! There are many activities that take place from January - March to help students plan and prepare for next year. As an initial start to this process, a general outline of these upcoming events has been mailed to families and is provided below.

Academic Fair: On January 14 all families should have received this link to the high school's virtual Academic Fair. This may be viewed at any time. The purpose of this annual event is to provide information to help answer questions and share expectations of the various courses. All students and families are invited to explore courses through this format.

Course Discussions with Teachers: There will be a window of time for teachers to discuss and recommend courses for next school year. For students currently at the high school that will happen in January prior to exams and for current 8th graders that will happen in early February.

Counselor Videos: Students will receive a virtual orientation to the online scheduling process. These will be pre-recorded videos and emailed to students and families in early February.

Next Mailing: Families will receive an additional mailing in February with step-by-step instructions for online scheduling. Students are encouraged to discuss recommendations, interests, and electives with their families to help make informed decisions.

Online Scheduling: Students will have one week to enter the courses they would like to take next year into the online scheduling portal. Scheduling-specific username and passwords will be sent to student emails.

Individual Counselor Meetings: Counselors will meet with each student individually to finalize course requests. This will be done both in-person and virtually so that all students can meet with their counselor to discuss and review their classes. For current 8th graders this will

Hello Sycamore Parents:

AVES Day at the Races on Saturday, May 1, 2021!

In an effort to bring ALL of our Sycamore Schools Community “together”, here is a sneak peek at what is in the works:

  • Ongoing Online Silent Auction featuring Junior High and High School Team Baskets plus local businesses

  • An All Aves Virtual Derby Dash Run/Walk on Event Day

  • Party Packs highlighting ‘The Best of Cincinnati’ from Local Restaurants and Businesses for Hosting Individual Gatherings on Evening of Derby

2020/2021 Immunization Requirements

7th-grade students must show proof that they have received (1) dose of Tdap, and (1) dose of MCV4 . This requirement must be met NO LATER THAN THE 14th day of attendance at school for the 2020-21 school year.

Virtual Student Item Pick Up for 2nd Semester

When: January 29th (Teacher Records Day)

Time: 8:00am-3:00pm

Where: "Pig" Lobby at SJH

For: Students who are currently learning in the virtual instructional model and will remain in the virtual instructional model for 2nd semester. Students need ONLY to pick up items if they are taking any of the following classes for 2nd semester:

  • Art 7
  • Design, Modeling & Architecture
  • Food, Fashion, & Family
  • Treble Tones- NEW! This class was not included in last week's newsletter.

Your child may need to pick up a math book for the below classes IF they do not have it yet. Please check if your child has the below book before attempting to pick up a book.

  • Math 7 (Abbas-Lee)- Envision Workbook 7th grade Volume 2
  • Math 7 Accelerated (Harper)- Envision Workbook- 8th grade Volume 2
  • Math 7 Honors (Abbas-Lee)- Envision Workbooks (2)- 8th grade Volume 1 and 2
  • Math 8 (Farkas, Harper)- Envision Workbook- 8th grade Volume 2

MAP Testing for Virtual Classroom Students

Virtual learners will be taking the Reading and Math assessments in the virtual classroom setting on February 1st and 2nd.
