ST. MARY PHOENIX NEWS
March 20, 2020
Mrs. Marvin's Corner
Just a reminder to all that "The Church" is not a building, but the people who gather together in faith to pray. As we travel through the uncharted territories of this time, let us remember that we must set examples for our children. Take time to pray, read scripture and be a role model of faith for your children. WHAT IF... God is using this time of absence from worldly idols and distractions to seek him more. As a St. Mary Community, let us continue to pray for each other and support each other during these difficult times and continuously look for the silver lining each and every day because it is ever present for you to see.
As announced, earlier this week, The Diocese of Cleveland has cancelled all masses including Easter Sunday Mass and Holy Week. St. Mary Church is open for quiet prayer and reflection during this time. Please pray with your family for healing and strength during this difficult time. The Diocese of Cleveland offers an online Mass each Sunday that you may participate in at your convenience.
Thank you to the Smyth Family for your special gift of Purell for everyone. It was a special gift and all the students were very excited.
Important Things To Remember:
Stay Positive, in any major event there is a silver lining and every day parents and grandparents are sharing positive experiences that are happening within their families.
Reach out to others if you need help. We are all in this together. This is a new experience for everyone.
Enjoy the time with your families and extended families. This is an opportunity to reconnect with your children and extended loved ones without outside distractions.
The School Office will be open remotely. Please call the School at (330)-262-8671 or email Mrs. Marvin at stm_lmarvin@tccsa.net if you have questions or need help. I will direct your inquiry to the appropriate person.
Attendance: Please Dojo your homeroom teachers that your child/children are participating in school everyday. We have to report that children are participating in school just as if they were physically in the building.
Assignments: Assignments have been given a deadline to help pace students and to continue accountability. These days count for our total 176 days of instruction. Assignments will be graded.
Assignment turn in: There are numerous ways to turn in your assignments. If you are using Google Docs assignments will be shared with the appropriate staff member.
Paper Assignments can be dropped off to the front of the school. There will be a cooler clearly marked for you to put your students work in. I will be checking the cooler daily for finished work.
If we are closed longer than April 3rd we will be using Google Classroom with teachers and students. On Monday, teachers set up their Google Classroom accounts and students will be invited to participate. Online classroom instruction will be given through this portal during scheduled times. In the next 2 weeks teachers will be reaching out to you and your students to practice the "Meet" portion of Google Classroom.
Technology: If you find that your child is in need of a Chrome Book, please email or call me so I can arrange a pick up time for your device. The link for The parent's Guide To Google Classroom.
Please reach out to teachers via Dojo if your child needs help with assignments. We are here to help you in this transition.
Our Drop Off Assignment Cooler Is Open 24 Hours A Day! Make Sure Your Name Is On The Papers.

St. Mary School Information
Since 1865, people have known St. Mary School students by their actions. This is because throughout our history, we have focused on building student’s character, based on the values instilled by the Catholic Faith, and a foundation of academic excellence.
St. Mary School provides a welcoming environment where families have the freedom to celebrate the faith. In a world of need, responsibility matters and strength is needed to serve our communities. It is our mission to develop students who have the ability to be mentors and leaders in the world. We recognize that each student is a unique gift from God and we individualize instruction to help them reach their full potential. We strive to promote an atmosphere that encourages a love of learning and provides children with a foundation of faith to balance and guide them for the rest of their lives.
