Important Notes
- If your child will go home a different way than usual, you will need to write a note. If I do not have a note saying they will go home a different way, I will send them home their normal way. Please do not Dojo message to tell me. I do not check my messages on Dojo until after school.
- Please, please make sure your child has a supply of pencils. I am quickly running out of pencils to loan out.
- Please remember, our day starts at 7:25. Students switch classes at 7:45. Every minute of our day is precious. Thank you.
- We will go outside for recess everyday unless it is raining, the playground is under water, or it is below freezing. Please send your child to school dressed for the weather. Our recess is 30-40 minutes long. Any students without adequate coverage will not be permitted to have outside recess.
- Remember students are not permitted in school unless they have been 24 hours fever, vomit, and diarrhea free without the use of medication. Thank you.
- Thank you so much for the donations of tissues and wipes. We are restocked.
Language Arts Notes
We are well into A Wrinkle in Time and students are loving it! We will continue to incorporate all skills taught this year in addition to adding figurative language as we continue through the novel. This week we will also get back to our small groups. We will focus on main idea and supporting details as we read nonfiction selections.
In Writing, we are writing response pieces to questions posed as we read A Wrinkle in Time. In particular, we are focusing on writing mechanics and spelling rules in our writing.
Social Studies Notes
We are almost finished discussing North Carolina's role in women's suffrage, the Civil Rights Movement, an the Vietnam Conflict. Once we finish, we will assess with an open book/note unit test. Our next topic will be the people of North Carolina.
I have been encouraging students to use their resources when completing Social Studies assignments. It is a difficult transition from discussing content to learning and applying it in Social Studies. We will have a NC Final Exam this year. Students will need to use what they have learned and apply that in order to be successful on these assessments.
