The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to disciple God’s children by equipping them with a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play.
Every Student TREASURED, Every Student TRAINED, Every Student TRANSFORMED
SANDY HOLLOW FIELD EXPERIENCE
Our 4th grade classroom storyline is "TRUST God, SEE Him in everything, and FOLLOW where He leads us." In science, they are studying pond ecosystems and SEEing the relationship God has made between plants, animals, and nonliving things. Early in September, they were able to SEE God's creatures on a field experience to Sandy Hollow, gathering frogs, bugs, and plants with nets! Then in a classroom lesson last week, they SAW how God created energy to move through a pond community. Each student became part of a pond food chain (sun, producers, herbivores, and carnivores) and worked together to use and pass along energy (beans). We are thankful for Mrs. Finley, Mrs. Vander Kooi, and Mrs. Winter, our 4th grade teachers who daily design each lesson and learning experience so students can clearly SEE God in everything, learn to TRUST Him, and FOLLOW where He leads!
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU to our friends at Kroese & Kroese, P.C. for spending their annual service day this year at Sioux Center Christian School! Campus beautification was their goal, so they focused on pulling weeds, cleaning out landscape, and putting rocks back where they are supposed to be... and finding an antler or two. (Really?? Really!! Maybe the deer and the antelope play on our playground at night...)

Storyline chapel will be today, Wednesday, October 5, at 1:35pm in the gym. Parents and guests are WELCOME to attend! You may also join our livestream (and recording) at https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/students/chapel.cfm

EDUCATIONAL CHOICE SUMMIT
Parents – we have a wonderful opportunity to support the educational choice movement this week. On Thursday, October 6, you are invited to attend the Educational Choice Summit at Dordt University in the BJ Haan Auditorium. Speakers to include Governor Reynolds, Jordan Drakery and Steve Holwerda from EdChoice, Representative Wheeler and Senator Taylor, as well as two very special testimonials from families who have benefited from educational choice. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will finish with some refreshments and opportunities for continued conversation. Please mark your calendars and share this opportunity with your friends who are supportive of the idea of educational choice.
PARENT SURVEY
Each year, we invite parents to complete a feedback survey. We use this information to discover trends and also to compare this year's results to last year's results. We also survey faculty/staff and our 7th and 8th graders.
We invite every parent to complete the survey, and the deadline is October 7 at noon. We take seriously the information shared and use it to celebrate and improve.
Please head to the link below to complete the survey. As you consider your responses, please think about your broad experience with SCCS, not necessarily individual experiences that may have happened. We would like to hear your feedback regarding the overall experience at school.
Thanks for your participation!

PELLA STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH AWARD
Since 2018, Pella Corporation of Sioux Center has sponsored a monthly Pella Staff Member of the Month Award, in which they recognize faculty and staff who go above and beyond in our local schools. They accept nominations for teachers from Sioux Center Christian and Sioux Center Community Schools each month and choose one nominee to receive an award of $500 to be used to impact their classrooms. Denny Van Zanten, Sioux Center plant manager, surprises the winning teacher with a classroom visit and a “big check”, sharing the nomination letter and the award.
We have had fifteen of our faculty receive this award since 2018, which has provided $7,500 toward classroom enhancements such as classroom furniture, learning toys, music instruments, books, and much more! Some of the teachers who have been nominated in the past are Andrea Wieringa (2019), Tammy Nieuwsma (2019), Rebecca Vander Werf (2020 & 2022), Sheila Tietgen (2020 & 2022), Emily Penner (2020), Samantha De Weerd (2020), Marissa Westra (2021), and Beth Bleeker (2022).
We believe all our faculty and staff are amazing and encourage you to take the time nominate one (or more) of your children’s teachers! Complete the nomination form (https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/editoruploads/files/SXC_STAFF_OF_THE_MONTH.pdf ; printed copies are available by the TRIP window) and return to our school office or mail to/drop off at Pella Corp. by the 25th of each month during the school year (September 25 is the first deadline). Pella kindly keeps nominations “in play” for 3 months to provide multiple opportunities for an outstanding staff member to be recognized. Feel free to re‐nominate someone if you feel they are deserving, and they didn’t win the award during the 3 months that the nomination was in play.
We are extremely grateful to Pella Corp for this program that serves to encourage and bless our faculty and staff!
