Week of Dec. 7th
Principal Petrick Message
Lots of good updates this week including our December STEM Challenge. We've enjoyed seeing the creativity of students who have participated. Each month we draw participant names for prizes. We hope you join us this month in doing the STEM Challenge.
If you haven't heard, the HSD Board approved CDL continuing through the First Semester (End of January) for K - 6. We are sure hopeful that we can get our students back to school but current infection rates are not helping us realize this goal. If/when we do meet metrics we are still expecting to have K-2 return first. I'm expecting a 4 week notice prior to starting any in person instruction.
Have a great weekend!
We are appreciative of the contributions of Speech Language Pathologist Jane Murphy. Ms. Murphy came out of retirement to help us with SLP duties to start the year. We now have Ms. Lee Decouteau taking over the SLP duties. We are currently in a transition period to get Ms. Decouteau onboarded. If you have questions about SLP scheduling you can contact Paice Adams.
FVPAE Needs Can Driver Volunteer
Farmington View's Can and Bottle Recycling Program is looking for a volunteer to take over transporting the bags of sorted cans/bottles to the Oregon Beverage and Recycling Center in East Portland. Our current volunteer, Dick Meeuwsen, is an FVES alumni father who continues to do FVPAE a huge service out of the kindness of his heart! He is needing to "retire" from his volunteer position due to health reasons but is willing to stick around to show the new volunteer the ropes. If you're interested in volunteering or have questions please contact Natasha at email@example.com.
Details: He uses an 18ft trailer but 16ft would also work. Typically he takes one load per month, although it has increased to two loads since COVID started.
Dec. 7th -13th - Join the largest learning event in history!

Boosters Giving Tree
Dear Farmington View Community,
Traditionally near parent-teacher conferences, our annual “Giving Tree” benefitting teachers and staff would have adorned the hallways at Farmington View, giving families an opportunity to share out of our abundance or simply out of a spirit of generosity. While things look different due to coronavirus, we do not feel the reasons for this activity have gone away, and therefore have looked into an alternative way of making it happen by asking the teachers to make online wish lists (just have the gift sent to address they put in the system). We know that COVID has had different financial impacts for each family, so please do not feel obligated in any way, but if you are interested please find links to the teachers lists below (please note that not all teachers/staff submitted lists):
