where our community is committed to following
the teachings of Jesus.
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Welcome back to everyone for the new school term. As I was sitting in Mass on the weekend reflecting on all the children and staff returning for the start of Term 4, I felt the theme of the readings was really pertinent as it revolved around gratitude and being thankful for what we have in our day to day life. I think we have many things to be thankful for, in our school, our local community, our city and our country compared to some of the challenges other people are experiencing both locally and abroad.
It was great to see the smiling faces running around the playground this week as the children were guided back into routines at the start of the new term. Edu-dance is always a welcomed addition to Term 4, and that programme started in the undercroft area below the old library on the first day of term. It is great to have Rob La Roche back from extended leave after major back surgery. Rob is recovering well and is enjoying getting back into the routine of school life. We also welcome Gaynor Cook, who has replaced Tracy in the front office. Gaynor has brought a wealth of experience with her from St Vincent’s, Parmelia and has been made to feel very welcome by students, staff and parents in our community this week.
As you read this edition of the newsletter the Year 5’s will be returning from our annual Surf Camp, we will have a few stories to tell when we return, it is always an enjoyable few days away with the children and a great opportunity for them to develop a range of new skills.

Paul on Long Service Leave
I will be taking Long Service Leave from Monday 4th November until the end of 2019. My time away is not perfectly timed with the Capital Development happening at the moment as my Leave was approved about 18 months ago, prior to the plan for the Capital Development being finalised. My daughter is in Year 12 this year and the opportunity to spend time with her and the family as she finishes her school days is the motivation for my Long Service Leave at this time.
Best wishes for the coming fortnight.

St Vincent de Paul Appeal
This time of the year, as a community, we have a focus on supporting St Vincent de Paul with a Christmas appeal. This is a great opportunity for the children to learn about the need to support less fortunate people in our local community to ensure they have a more enjoyable Christmas season. Ben Ziegelaar from the Palmyra St Vincent de Paul Conference has been in touch with us and will be coming in to have a chat with the children in preparation for the Christmas appeal starting in a few weeks.
Coming Soon to Term 4 - An online lunch order trial!
