Newsletter Week 10, Term 4
St Michael's School Rotorua 16th December 2022
Term 4, Week 10
Tēnā koutou kātoa e te whānau,
Seasons Greeting everyone. Our 2022 school year has come to an end and although we have had another Covid disrupted year, we have much to be grateful for. We are so grateful to our community for the continued support and love we receive from you all. To the coaches, camp helpers, class helpers, P.T.A members and our Board, thank you for your time. Many exciting opportunities would not be possible without your dedication to St Michael's.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how fortunate I feel to be working alongside such a great group of people. The drive, passion and determination shown by our staff this year, underpinned by skill, knowledge and empathy, has seen teaching and learning continue to raise progress and achievement despite the ever-changing social, learning and emotional needs that we are confronted with.
Staff Changes
Today we farewell Mrs. Ruth O'Leary who held a fixed-term position in Eden this year. Ruth has been a valued member of our staff and we are sad to say goodbye. Ruth has won a position at Rotorua Intermediate School for 2023. We wish her all the best for her exciting new challenge.
We welcome back Mrs. Marion Brits who will join Zenobia Knox and Kate Keaney in the Ark as Reading Recovery teacher for 2023.
We are fortunate to be keeping Mrs. Jo Fleet on staff for 2023 as DRS and Senior Teacher release.
Moving forward into 2023 is an exciting time. We have a team that thrives on change, diversity and progress. The team is focused on accelerating learning by identifying students interests, needs and next learning steps and by focusing on the whole child, both physically, mentally and spiritually. The teaching and learning our children experience at St Michael’s School is nothing short of outstanding. The opportunities being afforded to our learners is of the highest quality and meet the diverse range of learning needs. Bring on 2023!
In this season of Advent, we are reminded of the sacred meaning of Christmas. Despite the secular preparations taking place, eg buying presents and going to parties, Advent reminds us to remember and prepare for the birth of Jesus. It is a time of joy and goodwill.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday with your whanau.
God bless,
Rachael McLanachan
