Combining the Admin News with the Kiker Comments

In an effort to streamline communication, we are trying something new. We have added all the information that typically is shared in the Kiker Comments into this newsletter. We know it is long, but now everything is in one place.

PTA Sponsored Principal's Coffee Talk

Please join us for a coffee talk on Wednesday, March 10 at 8:00 am.

We plan to address common questions about upcoming STAAR testing and how TEA, AISD, and Kiker are responding. We are happy to address other topics which may arise in our community as well. Please see the new section below title From our PTA.

Returning to in-person learning?

We created the videos below at the beginning of the year to help our Comets. Since new families are moving into our community and others are switching from remote learning to in-person learning, we wanted to share them again.

AISD Survey about Registration

AISD deployed a survey on Monday, March 8, 2021. The invitation emails were sent to parents’ primary email addresses. The survey is set to close on Friday, April 30, 2021. This is a short survey to help AISD predict registration numbers. It does not count as registration; please see the section below regarding registration.

What will next school year look like?

At this time, Austin ISD is awaiting information on the 2021-2022 school year requirements from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). We know that on-campus learning will be an option available to families next year, just as it is this year. AISD safety protocols will align with the Center for Disease Control and Austin Public Health.

We realize you’re eager for information, and we will communicate more with our families when we receive guidance from TEA.

Please Complete Your Online Registration

The district has opened registration for the 2021-2022 school year. Things to note:

1) The information you enter drives our systems for data such as your email address, phone number, etc. Please double check that all items are up to date. Once you complete the registration process, it cannot be updated/corrected without sending an email or contacting the parent/family support hotline. This includes opting in or out of campus messages. We get many emails from families wondering why they are not receiving Kiker email blasts. This is based on preferences checked in the registration process.

2) Check the boxes carefully for permission to be in the yearbook or be photographed.

3) Registration in AISD is a multi-step process. AISD will conduct various phases including 'commitment cards, online registration, and emails/surveys. All of these items affect our staffing allocations for next year. It is so important to our campus that we get everyone to complete online registration so we can keep and maintain our amazing staff!

4) Parents who are registering a new Pre-K or Kinder student will need to have the following documents on hand to upload.

  • birth certificate
  • immunization record
  • current utility bill - electric, water, or gas
  • lease or closing paperwork for your new home
  • parent driver's license

Get to Know the Staff: Each week we will feature a few staff members and their "I Am Kiker" poem.
