CMHS would like to honor our School Social Worker, Ms. Chelsea Kohler, and thank her for her hard work on behalf of Cox Mill High School students and staff! Thanks for all you do, Ms. Kohler! Your efforts make a difference in the lives of students, and we appreciate you!
Chargers are also lucky to have another S3 staff member who supports our students using her background in social work. Thanks you to Ms. LaTrecia Glover, Student Assistance Program Specialist, for the many ways you support our students and staff!

Mrs. Glover, Student Assistance Specialist
Mrs. Glover is the Student Assistance Specialist for Cabarrus County Schools. Her office is at CMHS, but she serves all the middle and high schools except for the Opportunity School and the Cabarrus Virtual Academy. Her title does not clearly explain what she does, so here is a quick explanation:
- works with students and families around substance abuse intervention and prevention services
- helps people develop appropriate coping skills, and makes referrals to community resources
- works closely with health teachers to improve the drug and alcohol curriculum
- works closely with partners at the Cabarrus Health Alliance to develop and utilize resources within the county.
Mrs. Glover was born and reared in Cabarrus County. She graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from UNC Charlotte, and a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She says, "The amazing thing about a social work degree is the amount of versatility it allows with employment opportunities. I have worked as a registered lobbyist, written and received over $800,000 in grants, worked in child welfare and as a therapist for individuals and families." Mrs. Glover is also a wife to Wesley, and mom to Jackson and Alivia. Mrs. Glover's CMHS office is located on the 2nd floor by the elevators. She welcomes all students to visit her office and say hello!
Freshmen Foundations
Sophomore Success
This is a critical time to make a final drive to move your GPA into the range that you want it to be for college applications. Buckle down and get those A's this semester. It's easiest to boost your GPA in 9th and 10th grades when you are averaging fewer numbers (final course grades) together.
Junior Jumpstart
Once you have tried each test once, choose the one that feels best to you and repeat it again before you start your senior year. Try to enter your senior year with your testing completed (one less stressor for senior year).
Senior Strike
We're in the final stretch, Seniors! Check your grades in PowerSchool. Are you passing everything? If not, you need to reach out to your teachers to see what you can do before the 3rd Quarter ends (March 25). Do not count on a golden parachute to rescue you from failing courses. You have to rescue yourself by taking action NOW.
