Weekly Wrap Up
Benedict A. Cucinella 1/14/2022
Week 19
As our long weekend comes to an end and another week of school begins, I hope you have all found some time to relax and rejuvenate.
Please keep in mind that even when the temperatures are very cold, we still make every attempt to get our students outside for both mask breaks as well as recess. In conditions of extreme cold, we may not stay out for our full recess, but we will take the students outside for a lap or two around the building in order to provide them with much needed fresh air and some physical activity. Please be sure that the students are coming to school dressed appropriately. Sending students with coats, hats, gloves and other winter apparel is greatly appreciated.
On Friday, Dr. Turnamian sent out his Community Update in which he detailed the latest changes to our Covid 19 protocols. Within the new guidance, you will see that both isolation and quarantine periods have been reduced to a full five days (with the first day of symptoms or, if asymptomatic, the day of a positive test being day zero). We ask that you please notify the school nurse as soon as your child becomes symptomatic. This will help us to provide you with the necessary guidance. We also ask that you refrain from sending your child to school if he/she or any member of your family is presenting with any Covid-like symptoms. Nurse Ewer is always available to answer any questions you might have or to provide guidance whenever necessary. Please remember that our main goal is to keep our school open and to keep our students, staff, and families as safe and healthy as possible. If you child has been on quarantine, an email was sent on Friday updating your child's return to school date. If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Lastly, if your child is missing something - coats, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, etc. - please remind them to check our ever-growing lost and found. It is currently overflowing with winter items. The lost and found is housed directly outside of the Main Office, and we are happy to help students if they are looking for something in particular.
Looking Ahead:
Monday, January 17th - No School - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Tuesday, January 18th - Friday, January 21st - Specials Day 3 through Day 1
Thursday & Friday, January 20th-21st - MAP Testing Grades 1-2
Monday & Tuesday, January 24th - 25th - MAP Testing Grades 3-5
Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or feedback.
