In Class...
*READING: In the weeks ahead, we are moving into small groups during Daily 5 and workshop times which are based on data collected during the first quarter. This means students will still be doing large and small group activities, but they will focus heavily on areas of reading needs for individual children. While some need letter, sound, and word focus, others may need comprehension or project-based practice to enhance connections with their reading. I am so excited to see this in action and meet the students where they are showing need.
*WRITING: Students worked on I, Me, and My to practice correct placement in sentences. We will continue practicing this in writing as well as capitalizing names of people and days/months in dates. Additionally, we are focusing on our weekly word wall words!
*CHARACTER: October = Responsibility. We are continuing our discussions on rights and responsibilities as well as extending this focus to being responsible for our actions.

Conferences...
S C I E N C E this week...
Kiddos got creative with clay, toothpicks, pipecleaners, paperclips, and clothespins before sharing with Miss Wall and Mrs. Ryberg the parts of their insects. It was so cool to see the insects come to life and to see students sharing their knowledge and creativity. Currently, the insects are displayed outside of our classroom and should remain there for you to see during conferences.
