Spring Chorus Concert - "A Million Dreams"

In music class...
K - Students are exploring musical opposites, building music listening skills, and exploring classroom instruments.
1st - Students are singing and reading songs with so-mi, and sorting classroom instruments by how they are played (strike, scrape, shake)
2nd - Students are singing & reading songs with la-so-mi-re-do, sorting percussion instruments, and learning about the four families of instruments in the orchestra (string, woodwind, brass, percussion).
3rd & 4th - Students are creating their own music compositions for recorder as well as working on recorder skills
5th - Students are composing music for ukulele and building ukulele performing skills by learning new chords.
We are in need of:
- hand sanitizer
- clorox wipes

Ukulele Donation by FAME
On March 12, 2019 our music teachers were gifted a donation of 45 ukuleles from the Frederick Acoustic Music Enterprise (FAME). The goal of FAME is to support performers of acoustic music throughout the local community. You can read more about FAME here: http://frederickacoustic.org/

Happy Spring!
We are soon going to hang up our "Recycled Bottle Cap Mural" in the library. This was created by our Fall Art Club and will become a permanent installation in our library. The mural is dedicated to our "CES GARDEN STARS". Centerville was officially given the title of a Green School last Spring so this is a symbol of that achievement
Grade level concepts:
Kindergarten will soon be focusing on the Cherry Blossom Festival, Texture and ROY-G-BIV.
1st grade: is focusing on 3D Form, Landscapes, Warm and Cool Colors.
2nd grade: is focusing on Balance, Organic Shapes and the meaning of using Art Tools in our artwork.
3rd grade: is focusing on Focal Point, Monochromatic Color Families and Complimentary Color Families.
4th grade: is focusing on the meaning of the word Abstract in artwork, Culture in Art, and various Styles that artists use to create artwork.
5th grade: is reviewing Color, Media and Medium, Art Tools, Focal Point, Unity and Proportion.
Thank You for support your child's Art Education at CES. If any Parents or Guardians could take the time to donate Kleenex, Clorox Wipes and Large Ziploc bags it would be greatly appreciated by your CES ART TEACHERS!

To ensure safety in our gym at all-time please make sure that your student wears their sneakers on the days that they have PE.
What to expect in term 4:
Kindergarten and 1st grade students will focus on the skills of striking with body (hand and foot , striking with implements, rolling in the activity of bowling, chasing and fleeing and teamwork activities.
Grades 2,3,4 and 5 students will participate in activities that involve the skills of striking with foot, striking with different types of implements in the game of Branbol, rolling in the activity of bowling, teamwork activities, as well as offense and defense chasing and fleeing activities.
