Mrs. Coleman's Weekly News!
February 1-5!
Literacy Activities!
This week in Language Arts we worked with environmental print. They wrote sentences using different environmental print pictures of their choice. Everyone chose six pictures/words such as (Subway), to use in their paper and when finished shared their sentences with table partners. We also read a story titled, "My Lucky Day" about a pig that tricks a fox. Everyone enjoyed the story, and we discussed and identified nouns from the book. We made a class list of nouns from the story on dry-erase boards and other nouns from our classroom. We will continue to work on noun recognition and verbs next week.
Science/Social Studies!
In Social Studies this week, we created and learned about different maps. Using environmental print they created a map with a map key, and shared their maps with the class. They also created a large map using a key we created together on construction paper. The maps all included, roads, ponds, houses, buildings and cars.
Our visit to the DuPage Children's Museum was great! Everyone created a box of 3D shapes following the teachers instructions and listened well. They all enjoyed playing and interacting with the museum activities! I highly recommend going with them if you have a chance!
