Week 5- Term 2- Thursday 20 May 2021
From the Principal's Desk…
Dear Parents and Carers,
This term is flying by and already we have completed so much. Thank you to the many families who came along and supported our Numeracy Night last week. It was a great night.
Well done to all our grade three and five students on trying their best in last week’s NAPLAN assessments. We will not receive the results from these assessments until late term three.
A massive THANK YOU to our garden fairy! Last weekend one of our lovely parents/carers came to the school and planted beautiful red bushes between our roses that line the steps. It really lifts the area- thankyou, it was a very generous gift!!
Thank you to Dwain Gibbons & Lisa Hodgson for working all day with our junior grades teaching them about bottling fruit. It was such a wonderful experience and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. Dwain also made ALL of the scones for our Mothers' Day/Special Persons morning tea, and spent all morning topping them with delicious jam and cream. On behalf of all our staff and mothers/carers we would like to thank him.
And finally, thank you to Rachel Blake one of our grade six parents who is running our playgroup for a couple of session this term teaching the pre-schoolers music. Great fun – thank you. We are very lucky to be part of such a supportive community.
Our school has been undertaking many tours for Prep in 2022. If you have a child to enrol for prep next year or you know of someone who does, please get them to ring and book a tour. Simone can provide you with any of the enrolment forms needed or you can download them from our web site. Taking tours is one of the best parts of my job - I love showcasing our school, our students, our teachers, our resources and grounds. Every time I do a tour I come away thinking how lucky we are to be part of this school.
This week is ES WEEK – On behalf of the school community I would like to thank all of our Educational Support staff for the wonderful work that they do. Here at HPS we are very fortunate to have such a band of dedicated workers running our office, assisting with dojo, running the library, LLI and Quick-smart as well as all the support given to our students in the classrooms and yard.
Some of our students while making their way home at the end of the day are running across a few of the local streets unsafely. It would be terrible to result in an accident. The teachers have spoken to their classes and I would like all parents and carers to have a chat at home about road safety.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone that next Tuesday – 25th May is a Curriculum Day. There are no students to be onsite. All of our staff apart from Simone will be attending a curriculum learning session for Literacy at Millwarra Primary School in the morning. Then we will be returning to school to plan how we will utilise that new knowledge in our classrooms.
Stay warm take care.
