Communication
In addition to that, our Parent-Teacher Association will also send out a weekly email. Some of the information within the school newsletter and the PTA email will have some crossover. The PTA email, however, will include programs, offerings, volunteer opportunities, etc. that are run and supported by our team of volunteers.
The key to getting this information is to sign up to receive the PTA emails.
You can sign up for the PTA emails HERE.
BUS TRANSPORTATION (for those who qualify)
Families that have registered for bus transportation are already being scheduled for this year's routes.
Any new registration added to and/or changes for busing is now on hold until September 6. In other words, students added to transportation or any changes made to one of our routes will go into effect on September 6.
We anticipate publishing the routes on August 18. This information will come from the district.
Band and Orchestra Families:
During the school year, the instrumental music students will participate in one weekly pull-out lesson at their school. These lessons will begin at the elementary schools the week of Sept. 12. Please watch your email for lesson and after-school rehearsal schedules for your building. In the fall, students will also begin participating in a once weekly after-school rehearsal to prepare full ensemble music to play at their Winter and Spring concerts. We can’t wait to see the growth and progress our students will continue to make as the school year continues!
COVID-19, What to expect as the year begins
While we have come a long way from when the pandemic first began, COVID-19 is still present. I wanted to include some points worth knowing in today's newsletter so you have an idea of what to expect as the year gets underway. Please know that if COVID-19 does impact your family, the health office, staff, classroom teacher, and I will be here ready to support both you and your child, to provide guidance, and to answer any questions that you have.
The District will follow a typical school day schedule, and after-school activities and field trips will take place.
There is no mandate regarding universal masking and COVID vaccines, and face masks continue to be an option for all students, staff, and guests.
If students or staff members test positive for COVID-19, they will be required to adhere to the isolation requirements mandated by the Illinois Department of Public Health and DuPage County Health Department.
Remote learning will be available to anyone under mandatory isolation.
District 58 will provide take-home COVID-19 tests and personal protective equipment for those in need. The weekly COVID-19 screening program will no longer be offered.
While the COVID-19 dashboard will no longer be updated, District 58 will continue to track COVID-19 cases internally, just as it does for other illnesses.
Teacher Assignments (Repeat Item)
As a reminder, student schedules (teacher assignments) will be finalized and posted in PowerSchool on Monday, August 15 at 8:30 a.m. Any information you view prior to that time and date is not official, and may still be subject to change as schedules are finalized. We will send a reminder message on August 15th at 8:30 a.m. which will include directions on how to access the schedules in the parent portal. Please note that each school will have a unique time when student schedule viewing is enabled. Your child’s schedule will not be available before this time. This is to minimize the number of users logging onto PowerSchool’s servers at any given time.
In order to view your child’s schedule, you will need to be able to log into your secure PowerSchool Parent Portal Account. Families can navigate the portal by visiting dg58.powerschool.com and signing in with their username and password. Information about creating a portal account can be found here.
If you need assistance, please contact our school office (630-719-5820), and we can help you get signed in.
