Osseo Area Schools Early Childhood Family Education (EC&FE)

Nature Play Area Preschool for 3 to 5s Weather Related Guidelines

In Minnesota, the weather is often unpredictable and we are learning about programming outside. For now, we will use the following temperature guidelines to determine where Nature Play Area Preschool classes at Arbor View Early Childhood Center will be held. We will be asking for feedback and may change our plan accordingly.

The guidelines will include information provided from: The Weather Channel for the City of Maple Grove, MN.

Parents/guardians will be notified in advance of any future changes to weather related program practices. The weather related guidelines are subject to change based on program needs.

On Class Days

  • Dress your child for the weather conditions and outdoor messy play.

  • Rain suits and rain boots are available for children in sizes 3T to 4T.

  • Families are expected to provide winter clothing.

BEGIN OUTSIDE

Class will begin outdoors in the Nature Play Area when:

The temperature with windchill is at or above 10 degrees fahrenheit unless severe or inclement weather is forecast.

INSIDE

Class will be held indoors at Arbor View Early Childhood Center when:

The temperature with windchill is at or below 9 degrees fahrenheit or severe or inclement weather is forecast.

Things to Note

In addition to the above guidelines, when making a decision about where class time will be held, Osseo EC&FE will consider other factors such as: heat, wind, air quality, snowfall and rain.

Parents/guardians will be notified by the program at least one hour prior to the start of class if there is a change in drop off location from curbside at the Nature Play Area to Door #1.

Play. Explore. Learn Together.
