Osprey Weekly
March 26, 2021
Dear LES Families,
Happy Spring! It seems that Mother Nature is taking us on a roller-coaster of changing temperatures. It’s nice to see the grass getting a little greener and the skies a little bluer.
Next week, March 29th-April 5th is Spring Break. There is no school for students and staff. Please enjoy your Spring Break!
Our next Osprey Weekly will issued on Friday, April 9th.
I hope you can take some time to enjoy the weather and the Spring Break! Thank you for all your continued support!
Please take a moment to review Dr. Smith's Letter to Families attached below.
LES PTA Dance Fit Fundraiser Update:
On Behalf of the LES PTA:
WE DID IT!! Thank you to our entire school community for all your support in helping us reach our goal of $15,000.00 for a STEM classroom that will be used by Teachers and After School Programs, Meditation rooms for students and additional programs for teachers and students. We could not have done this without the overwhelming support of our sponsors (e.g., family, friends, businesses) throughout the United States and the United Kingdom!
Thank you to our volunteers who assisted in organizing prizes and t-shirts! It was all deeply appreciated! "Volunteers Are Love In Motion"!
We could not do what we do without such a caring community of parents, staff, students, and other community members. As a reminder, sponsor donations are tax deductible. If you are in need of a letter, please contact the school office to speak with administration.
Again, thank you for your support!!
Contina Quick-McQueen
Principal
CHANGE TO IN-PERSON LEARNING
Families are asked if they would like to change their student from virtual to in-person learning for the fourth quarter of school, to please do so between March 12-26, 2021 so that proper arrangements can be made. Please be patient with any requests to move from virtual to in-person requests. Although, with the new CDC guidelines of 3 ft in the classrooms, we also have to look to see if we can accommodate students in the Cafeteria when we have whole groups for lunch that need to maintain 6 ft. In some cases, we can make the change quickly. It will be important to communicate with the school if you would like for your child(ren) to return to in-person learning for Quarter 4 of school (April 12th-June 17th).
LES Yearbook Cover Contest
The Yearbook Cover Contest is here! We are holding a contest for your artwork and the selected drawing will be featured as the cover of the Leonardtown Elementary 2020-2021 Yearbook. The judges will be looking for creativity, school spirit (Leonardtown Elementary Pride: Be safe - on task - accountable- responsible- respectful), integration of our hybrid and virtual learning, and authentic work. This is every student’s opportunity to use their creative and artistic skills while having fun. In addition to the cover winner, we will include as many designs on the back as possible. You could include in your artwork (school mascot, drawing of the school, playground, people learning (in-person or virtual), or any other representation of our school community).
Check out the flyer below for more information, deadlines, and the drawing template!
