8th Grade Musical--Beauty and the Beast, Jr.
A Note from the Principal
Congratulations to our second graders who celebrated their First Holy Communion this past Sunday and to those who will make their First Holy Communion this coming weekend! Although there was some rain that day, there was such joy inside the Church. It was so wonderful to see the families share in it as they approached the table of the Lord together.
May Crowning will take place next week on Friday, May 13 at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. I invite our students and families to bring in flowers to be placed on the altar around the statue of Mary. Thank you in advance. May Crowning is one of those traditional events that so many of us look forward to each year.
Finally, I encourage you to purchase tickets for the 8th Grade Musical taking place May 13-15. Our eighth graders have been rehearsing regularly as they prepare to present Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr. See the details found further down in this newsletter. What a fun event that I am certain your family will enjoy!
Peace and blessings,
Diane Raguz, Principal
MAP Testing-April 26-May 12
From April 26 to May 12, students in grades K through 8 will complete the third and final MAP® Growth test from NWEA®. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Math (K-8), Reading (K-8), and Language (3-8). There is no preparation for these assessments besides making sure your child has plenty of rest and a good breakfast throughout the testing period of April 26 to May 12. As in the past, following the testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth throughout this school year.
Special District Science Day Awards
Congratulations to two of our 8th graders who have been recognized for their excellent work at the Ohio Academy of Science District Awards! Bryan Morton was recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-Best Middle School Project for this project titled: Password Security: How Easily Can Your Password Be Hacked? How quickly can an average person’s password be hacked?

Spring Fling....WE NEED YOU!
Spring Fling Raffle Ticket Challenge
Spring Fling Raffle Tickets have been sent out, and Father Lane is challenging each class to sell those raffle tickets! Each family is encouraged to purchase raffle tickets to support our Catholic School. Whether one book or the entire set, any tickets you are able to sell will aid us in reducing our expenses and provide much needed revenue toward our excellent school. Spring Fling is one way we invest/subsidize our Catholic school and reduce our annual deficit.
The class with the greatest percentage of tickets sold will earn a pizza party. If multiple classes have 100% participation, each class will earn a pizza party courtesy of Father Lane.
If the entire school and every class makes its goal, Father Lane will shave his head on May 17 after the Saint Paschal Baylon Memorial Mass.
Please return ticket stubs and money to the school, making sure to indicate your family name and students' room numbers on the envelope. Good luck!

Playground Volunteers Needed-Kindergarten, All Grades
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:15 am-12:50 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.
Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Kindergarten, All Grades (June)
