Early Intervention Program
Mrs. Russell's Monthly Update~ March 2014
Kindergarten
During the month of March, kindergarten students read and responded to informational texts. The students practiced tracking the text while they read, using photographs and other visual cues to determine unknown words, and identifying the main idea and details of a text. Below are work samples to demonstrate how the students were able to summarize the text What Lives in a Swamp. They used a web to summarize the text. The main idea is located in the center of the web. The key details are around the center of the web. The students were able to use a combination of words and drawings to complete their summary.
Kindergarten Standards
