I can't believe it is April already--and that's no joke! April may begin with a joke but it is also a month of rebirth, regrowth, and renewal as Spring works its magic. There is definitely a renewed spirit in the air at Jackson as we head into the final stretch of this school year!
Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the Jackson History Fair. We are excited to announce the following awards. Way to go, Jaguars!!

1st Place--Kaitlyn Schoedel, 4th Grade: "The Throwdown" A performance presentation about the Lincoln-Douglas debates.

Our awesome P.E. coaches are sharing a monthly calendar with fitness challenges and other activities that promote the development of motor skills, physical fitness, and social skills. These activities can be done at home with family or friends. Have fun with fitness!

2020-2021 State and Federal School Report Cards
The 2020-2021 School Report Cards for Jackson Elementary have now been released, and posted to the Jackson website, http://pisd.edu/jackson_ar.
The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The information contained in the School Report Card is described in the “School Report Card Definitions.”
The Federal Report Card is also available at https://tea.texas.gov/texas-schools/accountability/academic-accountability/performance-reporting/federal-report-cards.

Parent Volunteers--We Need You!!
Jackson teachers and staff are looking for parent volunteers to help during all Jackson lunch and recess periods. Your help will give back precious time to our Jackson teachers, and allow for additional planning to prepare high quality instruction for our Kiddos!
World Wear Project
NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION FOR 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR
Online enrollment for new students to Plano ISD begins on March 21. Enrollment is for the 2022-2023 school year and is for all grade levels, except preK, which begins registration on April 4.
- New Student Enrollment (kindergarten-12th grade): Begins March 21, 2022
- Head Start Roundup: March 21 and 22, 2022
- PreK Enrollment: Begins on April 4, 2022
Head Start is holding a roundup event on March 21 from 8:30 a.m.-noon and 4 p.m.-7 p.m. and on March 22 from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Appointment-only visits will be available from March 23-27. Head Start is located at 1600 Rigsbee Drive in Plano, TX 75074.
To register or for more information, visit www.pisd.edu/enrollment. Students currently in the district should not enroll. Annual registration occurs in the summer through Parent Portal.
It’s Time to “RockEnroll(ment)” for PreK
Plano Independent School District begins accepting online applications for PreK on April 4. Enrollment is for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
To enter PreK, students must be four years old by September 1 and meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements:
Unable to speak or comprehend the English language
Eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program
Is homeless
Is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care)
Child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States or is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty
Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award
Students who don’t meet eligibility for free PreK can enroll in tuition-based PreK at select schools.

El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Plano comienza a aceptar aplicaciones en línea para preK el 4 de abril. Las aplicaciones son para el próximo año escolar 2022-2023.

Plano ISD Parent Education Engagement Program (PEEP)
PEEP Education builds parents' capacity to support and nurture their child(ren)'s physical, social-emotional and academic development through the acquisition of knowledge and parenting skills. The workshop classes are offered Monday through Thursday in-person and virtually. We ask parents and families to sign up for the classes prior to attending.

Plano ISD COVID Response
Plano ISD will continue to share information and keep families informed of any changes/updates to PISD's COVID-19 Response. At this time, the District will stay with a 10-day quarantine period and there are no revisions to the mask policy below.
The use of face masks is optional for all students, staff and visitors. It is recommended that individuals who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 continue to wear an appropriate face mask while around others. Universal indoor masking is recommended for all teachers, staff, students and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status (Collin County Health Care Services | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention | American Academy of Pediatrics).

Plano West Summer Tennis Camps
Plano West will be hosting 2 tennis camps this summer, and we’d love to have your children involved.
- Our first camp is May 30 – June 3
- Our second camp is July 18 – 22
- Each camp will run Monday-Friday from 8am-11am
- The cost for the camp is $250 and includes a camp T-shirt
