Marysville Message
Friday 12/18/20
Happy winter break. I hope that you all have time for connection, care and rest over the next two weeks.
I want to share a few updates from this week and a couple of school videos. Our Marysville Lion Adventures will come out every Friday after Winter Break.
There has been a recommendation from the Southeast Guiding Coalition for the PPS school board. The Board will be meeting to approve the SEGC Recommendation on January 26, 2021.
The recommendation is linked here, with a visual representation of the plan at the end of the newsletter.
I also want to remind families that this year we received a grant to provide access to the STMath program to all students K-8.
This is a wonderful program for developing math skills and understanding at all grade levels. It is individualized for each student and is completely visual. My favorite thing about it is that it is set up as puzzles to solve. The whole point is not to know how to do it, but to discover it. This process is the best way for students to learn and understand the math ideas.
We don't expect families to have to teach their students the math, however encouraging the students to persevere and keep trying to figure it out is the best way to develop math abilities.
All students can find this app in their Clever. You can find out more about the program below.
Take care and please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Cathy Murray
