Game On: Lead Like a Champion!
A Leader in Me School: Empowering students to lead, achieve, succeed!
Principal's Message: Mensaje principal:
As the school year continues, the children are continuing to learn the language and incorporating the habits into their daily lives. By utilizing the same language at home and at school, you send your child a strong message of what you believe is important and that we are all on the same team—the team that wants to succeed. Below is a summary of each of the Habits:
Habit 1: Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
Habit 3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Everyone Can Win)
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood (Listen before You Talk)
Habit 6: Synergize (Together is Better)
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance Feels Best)
Habit 8: Find Your Voice (Discover Your Talents)
Part of the Leader in Me process is also 5 Core Paradigms that we believe here at SHES!
1. Everyone can be a leader.
2. Everyone has genius.
3. Change starts with me.
4. Educators empower students to lead their own learning.
5. Develop the whole person.
When parents and schools support one another, the sky is the limit! Thank you for using and practicing the habits and paradigms at home.
Hábito 1: Sé proactivo (estás a cargo)
Hábito 8: Encuentra tu voz (Descubre tus talentos)

Child Find
Pre-Registration for Beaufort County children whose parents want them to attend public school kindergarten or prekindergarten next school year will be held Feb. 1 through Feb. 26. During that month, interested parents with children who will be five years old by Sept. 1, 2021, can pre-register for kindergarten at the school serving their neighborhood’s attendance area. Parents with questions about school attendance zones should call any elementary school in their area.
Parents with children who will be four years old on or before September 1 can pre-register for prekindergarten at their neighborhood schools. Because space is limited for Pre-K, four-year-olds will be assessed for possible enrollment during “Child Find” screenings the week of March 1-5. Decisions on placement for Pre-K will be made at each school after children’s screenings are complete. Children are ranked in order of greatest need for participation in the program based on the provided list of at-risk indicators.
For all student enrollments, parents should bring their child’s birth certificate, South Carolina Certificate of Immunization (shot record) and two proofs of residency such as a utility bill showing a home address. If you have questions about Child Find please call Carmen Griffith at 843-838-0300.
