Arrival and Dismissal
Arrival to School:
Car riders, bus and van riders will enter the building through the main doors at the front of the building. Arrival time for students this year is 8:35 AM. This is a change from previous years. Please be aware students are NOT permitted to enter the building prior to 8:35 AM. Students must be in their classroom by 8:55 AM. They are considered “tardy” at 8:56 AM.
All AM car riders are to pull into the playground lot as indicated by the picture. The flow of traffic shown is important to keep you out of the flow of our bus traffic. Please follow the cars into the playground area as this provides room for you to move your vehicles out of the bus lane. Once the buses have exited, a staff member will direct you to the front of the building. Parents should pull up to the end of the sidewalk/building and place their vehicle in park. Students should quickly exit the vehicle on the passenger side and walk along the sidewalk to the main door. Once all students have exited, cars may pull away slowly. Under no circumstances should a car pull around a car in the drop off lane. Doing so is a safety risk to students and parents. We appreciate your assistance in maintaining safety and efficiency.
Dismissal:
Dismissal time starts at 3:15 PM this year. Buses will be staged at the front of the building waiting to load.
Occasional Car Rider:
If you plan to pick up your child at dismissal on any given school day, it is extremely important you send a note with your child (first and last name) indicating their teacher and the name of the person picking up OR call the school office (717) 225-4731 ext.1500 before 2:00 PM. ID/license must be shown to the teacher to verify the corresponding name on the pick up list.
Rocket Rider:
If you plan to transport your child at dismissal each day, please contact the school office to arrange a time PRIOR to the start of the school year to pick up your child’s 2022-2023 rocket rider tags. When picking up your child, please park in a parking space in the west side (Lake Road) parking lot and come to door #3 next to the kindergarten play area. You MUST show the 2022-2023 rocket rider tag to the teacher when you pick up your child. Please plan to arrive by 3:05 PM. to help avoid bus traffic. Students not picked up by 3:20 PM will need to be picked up at the front office. For everyone’s safety, please do not permit children to run freely to the parking lot.

Additional Information
Late Arrival/Early Dismissal
If your child is arriving at school late or leaving early due to a doctor or dental appointment, please be sure to get a note from the physician. The time may be considered unexcused if a note is not provided. You will find further information on this subject in the student handbook. If your child is arriving late, we ask that you check the child in at the school office. Please do not drop the student off and leave without accompanying him/her to the office.
School Visitors/Volunteers
Please remember that all visitors must sign in at the office upon arrival. Every person that enters Paradise Elementary will be asked to sign in using our RAPTOR security system. You will need to have your drivers license/identification scanned at least one time in order to be in our system. We kindly ask that you have your identification with you at all times when visiting a district building.
ALL volunteers must complete the volunteer registration process before volunteering in any district school. You may find more information on the volunteer process by visiting Volunteer Services on our district website.
Paradise Communication
Paradise communicates mostly by email or by posting information on the Paradise web page. Please be sure to include your email address on the student emergency form. For split households, please include both parent email addresses. We want to make certain that all parents/guardians are aware of Paradise news! If you do not have email access, please make note of such on the emergency forms
Water Bottles
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school to fill at the water filling stations. The water fountains will not be in use for the school year.
