Chapter 5: Instructional Leadership
Observing classroom instruction is one of the single leverage points principals can have as it relates to improving instructional practice. Presence in the classroom serves as evidence that student achievement and improvement of instruction are priorities. Author Kafele acknowledges that MAKING the time to commit to spending no less than a third of each day either in classrooms or giving feedback can be challenging. At the end of the day, ONE CAN NOT LEAD FROM THE MAIN OFFICE. Reading emails and taking care of administrative duties have their place, but not during instructional time.
Ms. Hill's Ask: Make it a priority for you and your leadership teams to spend at least 2 hours each day in the role of instructional leader.
Here's to a great week of teaching and learning!

A Note From Your Executive Director...
Team,
Three instructional days into the new semester and we are already creating action plans for improvement that will yield positive student results at the end of the year! I look forward to meeting with your teams this week as we engage in the mid-year review process. Remember that this is the time that you reflect on your first semester and create action steps for improvement during the second semester. Please have your PowerPoint presentations ready to go!
Parent conferences are a great opportunity for you to be present and visible in your buildings to interact with your stakeholders. Plan on taking advantage of this time by passing out important campus literature, signing up volunteers and chaperons, and registering for parent portal. We need our parents' support and involvement in our schools!
Here's to a great week of teaching, reflecting and learning!
ALL TOGETHER ADAMSON!
