GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE: JANUARY 22-26
Click the graphic above to watch The Great Kindness Challenge video.
Each year, Alta Vista Cougars join more than 19,000,000 children from around the world in The Great Kindness Challenge. The Great Kindness Challenge is a positive and uplifting program that creates a culture of kindness in schools, communities and the world. This year's celebration of kindness begins next week. During today's assembly, we kicked off the challenge. We watched The Great Kindness Challenge video together and I encouraged students to check today's Vista Views for the kindness checklists mentioned in the clip. Using the checklists, students (and their families) can challenge themselves to complete as many acts of kindness as possible. You'll find these attached to the bottom of the newsletter.
Join the fun and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS! Please share your pictures and stories of kindness by emailing me at email@example.com. I'll include as many as I can in upcoming assemblies and newsletters.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Throughout the year, a variety of vendors and company reach out to offer their services, programs, or classes at Alta Vista. There are a couple of new additions to the after school activities being offered on campus. Be sure to check the Before & After School Activities link on the Alta Vista website for information on the return of the Chess Club and Girls on the Run.

Alta Vista Cares:Winter Donation Drive
Please save the date for our winter drive to support local teens in need.
From January 29 – February 9, 2024, Alta Vista families will be collecting items to help local unhoused and food-insecure high school students. Teachers in nearby communities report that some students come to school hungry and exhausted from sleeping in their cars or working night shifts, and their resource centers are lacking basic items to help the students. Resource centers are in particular need of the following items that we hope Alta Vista families can provide during our winter drive:
- Granola bars, Slim Jims and snacks
- Basketballs, soccer balls and free weights
- School supplies
- Diapers (infant to 3T) and wipes for teen parent childcare center
- Used sewing machines and art supplies for art projects
Please start gathering your supplies so we can make a difference this winter! Please contact Claire Kalia with any questions. firstname.lastname@example.org
