MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
179th EDITION: January 22, 2021
From the Desk of Curtis Price
In our last Friday Focus, Mr. Shukis wrote that we need to decide what we want to pay attention to. One of the things I want to pay attention to is the work that is being done to make sure we are all safe at Marian Central Catholic High School. I also would like to recognize the work that is being done by members of the Marian Central family.
First, our maintenance team deserves to be recognized. They are the first to arrive at school and the last to leave on most days, and the work they are doing is nothing short of phenomenal. The pandemic has added so much more work for the maintenance team, but they have not missed a beat on keeping our school clean and safe. They sanitize our building before the day starts and between every class. The extra work by our maintenance department does not go unnoticed. They keep our school functioning and for that I am thankful.
Another group that I would like to recognize is our teachers. A lot of adjustments have been made since March 2020, and they continue to provide an excellent learning environment for our students. I can only imagine how difficult it is to teach two different groups (remote and in-person) at the same time, but our teachers have adapted and done a great job. Thank you, teachers, for always being there for us.
The last group I would like to mention is our students. My heart goes out to the students for all they have missed: walking the halls together, club meetings, gossip in the cafeteria, sports, full classrooms, and so much more. The students at Marian Central have continued to thrive under these tough circumstances. Thank you for continuing to show what it means to be a Marian Central student.
This quote sums up how I feel about my Marian Central family: “My life is so blessed with some of the most amazing people. Thank you for being a part of my journey.” – author unknown.

College Information Night - Virtual
WHEN: Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 from 6:30-9:00 PM (Program begins at 6:30 PM)
WHERE: This year’s program will be virtual, with links being sent to participating families no later than Friday, February 5th, 2021.
WHAT: An opportunity to learn about starting a college search, how colleges review Marian transcripts, test optional admission policies, and to attend a mock college application review. Students and families will also have the ability to ask the college admission officers who will be presenting on these topics questions.
Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors and their parents/guardians are invited to attend this program. We strongly encourage juniors and their parents/guardians to attend College Information Night. We’ve put together a comprehensive program that’ll be slightly different than last year’s program. We’re confident students and their families will leave with insight into some of the most complicated and confusing parts of the college search.
We ask that those planning to attend this program please register online at:

Please direct any questions about College Information Night to Mr. Stamatakos (jstamatakos@marian.com) or Mrs. Diamond (guidance@marian.com). We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, February 9th!
