Classroom News
Butterfly Release - THIS Friday 9/18, we will be releasing our butterflies which will be very bittersweet. We will meet at the school garden (where the benches are) at 1:30 PM. We are releasing our butterflies "in honor" of someone special in our lives, whether they have passed away or still living. Students will be read a poem they wrote about that person then release the butterfly to begin it's long journey to Mexico. We will enjoy some "butterfly themed" refreshments after. All families are invited to come!
Ag Day - Last Friday, we had an awesome time at Ag Day! We received many compliments from the high school student presenters on how well behaved our class was! I am proud of how well the students represented CCA!
Summer Challenge Field Trip - Those students that completed the Summer Challenge will be going to the Louisville Science Center this Wednesday. I will be going as well. If you student is bringing their own lunch, do not forget to bring it!
The Canaan Fall Festival - Thank to everyone that helped out with our float, at the Spaghetti Dinner, Yard Sale and PTO booth! You are greatly appreciated and thanks for supporting our awesome school! We had a successful weekend!
Family Literacy Night - Everyone is invited to attend the Family Literacy Night THIS Thursday from 6:00-7:30 PM. It is a space theme and it will be out of this world! The night will be filled with different reading activities that will benefit your child. Any 3rd grader that attends will get 5 Dojo points! I hope to see everyone there!
Book Fair - The Book Fair will be going on at the Family Literacy Night.
What We're Learning This Week
Reading: Supermarket, Comparing and Contrasting
Spelling: Long Vowels (ee, ea, ai, ay, ao, ow)
Math: Subtraction with 2 and 3 digit numbers, subtracting money, regrouping
Science: Butterfly Project
Social Studies: Communities (Test on Wednesday)

Classroom Needs
- Grocery store ads by Wednesday (for a Math activity)
- Empty plastic bottles, small container/boxes (to build replicas of a community on Friday)
