ASSE International Student Exchange Programs
ASSE International Student Exchange Programs (ASSE) is offering qualified high school students a unique opportunity to explore the world by spending an academic year, semester or summer in Europe, Asia, North or South America, Australia or South Africa.
Benefits of participating in an exchange program in high school are numerous: exchange students develop leadership skills, self-confidence and a greater understanding of the complexities of the world around them. Time spent living abroad also teaches students about building friendships, taking responsibility for themselves, respecting differences and tolerating the beliefs of others. When time comes to apply for college, this really can make your students' applications stand out!
Why ASSE?
- ASSE is one of the oldest and largest International Student Exchange organizations worldwide
- We offer the most comprehensive Study Abroad Programs with the lowest program fees of any high school exchange program
- Students chose where they spend their exchange year among a large number of countries
- A number of scholarships are available to deserving students
- Families abroad are carefully screened, and students do not need to know the language of the host country prior to departure. They will acquire the language skills through experiencing the day-to-day local culture and attending regular high school classes, along with their new teenage friends.
Please call me at 1-949-494-4100 ext. 252 or email outbound@asse.com with any questions you may have or to request printed copies of our Outbound Brochure for your classroom.

Day at the Capitol!
JRLP Families and Students,
Join us on Thursday, February 8 for our 2024 Annual Day at the Capitol! We are so excited to be back in person this year and bring together cyberschool advocates from across the state. We will begin at the History Colorado Center, with a morning of informative and interactive presentations, including a visit from Amelia Earhart, presented by Colorado Humanities History Speakers Bureau! Then, we’ll head over to the Capitol for a rally to hear from parents, students, educators, and legislators, spreading the word about the importance of school choice and online learning. We can't wait to see all our Colorado cyberschools there! Register now!
There will be an opportunities for people to speak at the rally. If anyone would like to speak at the event, let Ms. Dawn Brodin know. It can be as short as “I support online testing and hope you will consider this bill.” Or it could be a personal testimony about how online learning is the best option for your family and why. This portion of the event where people will come forward to speak will probably be on the capitol steps. No pressure at all to say something, just wanted to provide the opportunity if anyone would like to.
If you would like to speak at the rally....Please reach out to Dawn Brodin at dawn@dashtechnology.com
This is not a school sponsored event, so if you want to join, please call the JRLP attendance line to excuse your student(s).

Voice and Piano Lessons
Is your student interested in piano or voice lessons?
Mr. Brendan Schuster, teaches private Voice and Piano lessons to all levels and age ranges (not younger that 6), as well as music production and composition.
The lessons are out of his studio in Littleton, but he can also offer lessons remotely! Brendan is very talented and is also fun and kind - he works very well with children & teens.
Performance is also an important aspect, so he puts on at least 2 recitals a year for students to share their hard work.
Folks who are interested can contact him at brendanschustermusic@gmail.com or can call/text him at 303-887-0015.
Attendance Policy
Please Read the Attendance Policy:
The knowledge and skills that will be gained in educational courses highly depend on participation in class learning activities. Students are expected to attend and participate in all class sessions unless in the case of illness or a valid reason for missing.
To be counted as attending, the student is present in class meets and participating at least 50% of the time, in accordance with Colorado State law. Participation may include, but is not limited to:
Cameras on during attendance and direct instruction. If the camera is out of service, this must be communicated to the teacher in a timely manner.
Un-muting to speak or using Chat in Meet or Google to respond to class discussions and instructor inquiries, including work time in breakout rooms.
Showing evidence of completed work/assignments during class meet time.
Joining breakout rooms when assigned in a timely manner.
Active use of Chromebook with enabled keyboard to engage in class work.
If a student leaves class early or must miss class due to one of the excused absence reasons listed below, or due to internet/technical issues, they must be called in by a parent or guardian through the attendance line (303-982-6996).
From Jefferson County Board Policy:
A student’s attendance will be changed to “absent” and noted as unresponsive in Infinite Campus if participation is not given for at least 50% of the class time.: If a student is having difficulties meeting the requirements, they should reach out to the instructor to discuss options for meeting the learning requirements necessary to earn credit in the course.
Excused Absences:
A student who is temporarily ill or injured or whose absence is approved by the school administration on a prearranged basis. Prearranged absences shall be approved for appointments or circumstances of a serious nature only, which cannot be taken care of outside of school hours.
A student who is absent for an extended period due to physical, mental, or emotional disability.
A student attending a funeral or to legal obligations.
Unexcused Absences:
Unexcused absences are defined as absences not covered by the foregoing exceptions. Each unexcused absence will be entered on the student's record. The parents or guardian of the student receiving an unexcused absence will be notified by the school of the unexcused absence.
