“A Different Thanksgiving Story” with Rev. Mary Gear
As we enter a time of holidays and holy days, how do we reconcile a story of Thanksgiving that is false and harmful? What might we do to restore meaning to this time? What accountability does our faith call us to?

Capital Campaign News
The Capital Campaign is well underway. Thanks to all who have already made their commitments, and if you haven’t please take the time to do so on our Realm Giving page. Thanks to the wonderful kickoff boost we received from George Lanning and his estate, we are already OVER halfway to our goal of $544,500. With 13 generous commitments of a total of an additional $27,540 we are currently at $279,039.
Our goal averages to a commitment of around $1,000 per member over the course of 3 years. To clarify, this is not an expectation that all members can or will be able to commit $1,000 – that’s just the average. We hope that everyone gives to their capability to help us Fund our Future at OUUC.

Holiday Giving Tree to Support Families at LP Brown ElementaryAt LP Brown over 70% of the families are low income and many could benefit from some assistance to ensure they have what they need for the holidays. This year, LP Brown is hosting a Giving Tree. Families who sign up for the Giving Tree will be given gift cards to purchase holiday gifts for their children as well as groceries for a family meal. This provides the family with assistance while also ensuring that they still have agency to get what works best for their family. OUUC is helping out by collecting gift cards to this Giving Tree. We are seeking $25 gift cards to Target, Walmart, Safeway, Fred Meyer, and Grocery Outlet. Please bring gift cards to Rev Sara no later than Thursday, December 8. | Thanksgiving Potluck! | Supply Drive for our Homeless Neighbors!Help spread warmth and cheer this holiday season. We are collecting for gift bags that will be distributed through the Community Kitchen new: gloves, scarves, hats, socks, bath towels, hand warmers, and reusable plastic cups and plates. Look for a donation box in the Commons between now and December 1st. |
