Principal's Note...
I could not be more proud of the MMES students, staff, and families this time of year! Our grade 5 Student Ambassadors did an amazing job collecting toys (with all of your help) for Pathways for Children. The delivery was sent off and was a staggering 184 items! It was great to see the students' spirit each morning as they made school-wide announcements to encourage their classmates! Thank you all!
Our goal at MMES is to be a welcoming place for all children and families and to teach children to appreciate our differences. There has been a good deal of work done in classrooms and in specialist classes to celebrate the diversity of holiday celebrations in our community! You will notice that our Winter Concert program aims to further educate about different holiday traditions that folks in our community may celebrate (and even some that were more prominent in the past). We believe that this will help our children grow up to be adults who are proud of their background and appreciate, value, and respect the backgrounds of others.
We are so excited to see you all this week at our annual Winter Concert (12/21/18 @10AM @MMES Gymnasium) and at the District Elementary Band & Chorus Concert (12/20.18 @7PM @MERMHS Auditorium). If I do not get a chance to personally chat with you, have a wonderful holiday season and a restful (ha ha!) Winter Break!
Best,
John

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A LIBRARY VOLUNTEER?
Ms. Silag is looking for a few good men or women to give an hour at the beginning or end of each weekday to shelve books, clean up projects and pack up iPads.
Hours are:
8:45-9:30 am each school day (M-W)
or
2:00pm - 2:55pm each school day (M-F)
If you are interested in signing up to be a Library Volunteer, please email Ms. Silag at: silags@mersd.org
You will receive a response with directions on how to sign up for an available time slot.
***IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: ALL volunteers must be CORI'd PRIOR to working in the school. See Mrs. Dodge or Ms. Silag for a CORI form. The CORI checks expire after two years so you may need to update your CORI.
Help Wanted!
We are currently searching to build our substitute pool for the 18-19 school year. Do you know someone locally who has experience working with children in a school setting? Please have them email Mrs. Dodge directly at dodgec@mersd.org and we can take them through the application and screening process. Thanks so much in advance!
