Divisional Youth Retreat
When: September 17 - 19
Where: Redwood Glen Camp & Conference Center
Who: For ages 13 - 18.
Theme: Just Good News - As We Redeem the Screen
Theme Verse: Romans 12:1-2
- Today we are very dependent on our phones and social media. We are rarely without our "screens", it's always in our hand or in our pockets, becoming an extension of our very selves. On one hand technology can be used as a tool to make our lives easier and even help us in spreading the word of God, on the other it can sometimes become an addiction or a distraction. Social media can be both a blessing and a curse, we must be aware on the power it has over us and how we can best use it. The goal of this weekend is not to get rid of screens but to redeem them for good. Romans 12:1-2 clearly tells us that we do not conform to the world but to be transformed by renewing our mind. Are we confirming or transforming by the screen? Are we watching or worshipping the screen? We need God’s help in this area, so that we can find God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for our life.
