Mrs. Licari's Letter
Room 204 Events
November 16, 2015
It has been a busy fall in Room 204. Everyone has been working very very hard on their independent reading levels. Thank you to parents for supporting our nightly reading program of 20 minutes per day. Those good fit library books paired with our leveled text in school have really impacted our fall trimester and I am seeing a lot of growth. Our class visits the media center every Tuesday for check out. Please help your student remember to pack their books every Monday evening so they can select a new good fit book.
We are fortunate to have two wonderful math sites purchased for us by our district to support our students at home. Dorr students have access to both the Reflex Math and IXL websites to reinforce concepts taught at school. If you receive a note from me letting you know your child is struggling in a certain area, try logging on with them and practicing that skill together. I can also assist you with appropriate lessons.
We now have a set of i pads for our classroom. It would be so helpful if each child could bring in a pair of inexpensive earbuds/headphones of their own to keep in a baggie with their name on it. If this is not possible I will be watching for sales and will try to purchase sets for student use.
We have now begun to study the NE region of our country in social studies. There is a state practice sheet in each child's agenda to practice with at home. Our test is scheduled for after Thanksgiving break. In science we have spent the first trimester studying the earth, its resources and our human impact on the enviroment.
With winter weather approaching I would like to encourage you to label your child's belongings. Students are outside for two recess breaks each day.
This year we will be doing a candy bar gift exchange as part of our class Christmas celebration. Look for more information on that to come home after Thanksgiving. I will also try to send out another sign up for the class party which will be held December 18.
Last Day for bookorders 11/17 (this will be our only bookorder before Christmas Break).
Nov. 20 @6:30 Movie Night at Dorr
Please return your flu vaccine form if you are interested
No spelling test this Friday, we will work on our words until Nov 25.
Wishing each of you a happy holiday season,
Respectfully, Mrs. Licari
