Course Selections for 23-24 School Year - What to Expect!

During the week of February 20th, course selection sheets will be distributed to students and accompanying materials and resources for students and parents will be published on the MHS website and Schoology. Parents and students should review these materials to guide conversations about course selections for the 23-24 school year.


March 1 - Students will enter their course selections in Skyward (during school - activity period)


March 2 - March 17: All students will come to The Plank with their English classes to have a one on one sit down meeting with their school counselor to review and confirm their course selections.

MHS Advanced Academic Options Night

Students who participate in advanced academic offerings at the high school level are better prepared for colleges and careers. Are you interested in your child participating in AICE, AP or Dual Enrollment opportunities at Matanzas High School?


MHS is hosting an evening information session for parents on Wednesday, February 22nd from 6-7:30PM so that parents can learn more about these options and what may be best for their child. The event will begin in the Pirate Theater with a general information session and then will feature breakout sessions with representatives from Daytona State College to discuss dual enrollment and MHS Guidance to discuss AICE.

9th Graders - Apply Now for MHS Programs of Study for 23-24

Any current 9th grader student can apply now for an MHS Program of Study for the 23-24 school year. MHS is currently accepting applications for the AICE Program, Law & Justice Program, Marketing & Finance, Hospitality & Tourism and CyberSecurity!

Applications are due March 4th, 2023, students will be notified on or before March 17, 2023 of their acceptance.


Students interested in joining Carpentry, Culinary or Digital Media may select these electives on their course selection sheet, no application is required.

Spotlight - Chorus Solo and Ensemble and Jazz Band MPA

Our Chorus students recently participated in the Solo and Ensemble and earned 4 "Superior" and 3 "Excellent" ratings - congratulations on your hard work!


Our Jazz Ensemble 1 and Jazz Ensemble 2 bands also participated in their Music Performance Assessment this week and earned "Superior" ratings! This was the first time MHS has taken two separate Jazz bands to MPA.

Upcoming Dual Enrollment Information Sessions

Parents and students interested in Daytona State College Dual Enrollment for 23-24, plan to attend one of the online information sessions at the link below.


This is the required first step for students who want to participate in DE and will answer many questions about the process and what to expect. Enrollment for Summer and Fall 2023 begins April 6th.


Session dates are 2/8, 2/14, 2/23, 3/23, and 3/29.

Seniors - Bright Futures Reminder

If you have qualified for or will qualify for the Florida Financial Aid Application Scholarships (Bright Futures Awards) you must complete your Florida Financial Aid Application BEFORE YOU GRADUATE to receive any potential award money! Please request the quick guide tutorial from your school counselor if needed.

Daytona State Graduates - Class of 2023

Do you want to walk across the stage to accept your Daytona State College Diploma for Spring 2023? You can apply for DSC’s graduation ceremony through your MyDaytonaState portal.

Commencement book deadline: March 20, 2023

Summer Completers - Last day to apply: July 31, 2023

Commencement Ceremony: May 16, 2023

Reserve Tickets to Walk: Between February 1 and April 3 2023

**You must apply for graduation even if you do NOT wish to walk in the commencement ceremony

**You may walk in the ceremony no matter what your grad status is

Tutoring Schedule
