Coaches' Corner

Hello!

Thank you for the amazing work you are preparing for our Panthers!

Here are some resources for you as you continue to plan:

BrainPop account for MCS has been created. It has been suggested that students use the general log-in credentials below (District maintained) rather than teachers each creating their own account.

Cathy and Susie have created content for SS and Science in Discovery Ed. There are five daily activities for K-5 in both subject areas. The activities may be accessed by teachers and students via this link.

Ms. Ortiz did a reading lesson for her students on Schoology.

Non-Instructional Staff

We are working on developing a plan for you to assist our students and teachers during the closure. Many of you have already reached out to offer assistance in a variety of ways. Some of the ways you might be asked to assist in the future are...

  • Virtual tutoring- You may be asked to be a one-on-one tutor for reading, phonics, or math for students
  • Contacting parents- you may also be asked to help contact parents and help them get access to online resources.

Schoology Teacher Pages

Great job getting your teacher pages up and running! It has been awesome to see some of our students engaging in class discussions on Schoology. Continue to help your students with Schoology Access and encourage them to start using this on a daily basis.

Please also create one short assignment for your kiddos to complete and turn in on Schoology. This will help them get used to the platform and begin having some accountability for their work.

Coaches will begin conducting training on Schoology tools next week. Please look for an email from Heather and Sharon regarding training times and Schoology resources.

Materials and Supplies

If you are running low on teaching supplies and materials, please fill out the Google form below. We are working on developing a plan to ensure each teacher has the resources they need to teach digitally.

iReady

Many students have been accessing iReady while at home. Mr. Johnson will be sending out usage reports and teacher reports. Feel free to talk with your students about their progress on iReady.

Device and Technology Tracking for students

Many of you have already made contact with all of your students. Please continue to try and make contact with all of your families. Ms. Kern created a Google Sheet log for us to use to track which students we have contacted and their technology status. Please begin plugging in the information on the sheet so we can track which of our families still need to be contacted.

The list is arranged by grade and homeroom teacher. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Staff Shout Outs... (please submit shout-outs by 3pm)

1. Carla Murphy

Thank you for helping with the Field trip paperwork for Fernbank Museum!

2. Ms McIntire

The coverage for the staff last Wednesday.

3. Abby Hatheway, Shawn Underwood, Erin Bradley

You all are some of the most amazing people I've ever worked with. The way you all moved so quickly to make sure we had things in place for our fifth graders made this whole process so much easier. I can't thank you all enough, and know that it is a privilege to continuously work along side you.

4. Audrey Dominguez

Thank you for making the 1st grade team page for tele-learning!
