Exceeding Expectations with Excellence

Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better. When a team outgrows individual performance and learns team confidence, excellence becomes a reality. Excellence is a better teacher than mediocrity. The lessons of the ordinary are everywhere, however truly profound and original insights are to be found only in studying the exemplary. We are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act, it's a habit. When we settle in the fact that perfection is not attainable, while chasing perfection, we can catch excellence!

I'm on the chase, catch me if you can!

Big picture
We are excited to start the AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) program at John Marshall High School. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Ninth grade students will have the opportunity to take an AVID elective course to improve their writing, inquiry, collaboration, and organization skills. Students will have the opportunity to participate in tutoring, college tours, and speakers from different career fields. Our goal is for students to take the skills learned during the elective into their core classes and excel academically. Students (9th grade only) interested in applying for the AVID program should complete the application.

The Fall sports season is underway. We are excited for our Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country teams to compete. Follow our @jayem_athletics on Instagram for more updates.
