Exceeding Expectations with Excellence
Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better. When a team outgrows individual performance and learns team confidence, excellence becomes a reality. Excellence is a better teacher than mediocrity. The lessons of the ordinary are everywhere, however truly profound and original insights are to be found only in studying the exemplary. We are what we repeatedly do, therefore excellence is not an act, it's a habit. When we settle in the fact that perfection is not attainable, while chasing perfection, we can catch excellence!
I'm on the chase, catch me if you can!

Schoolwide Title I Programs Facts for Parents
Here are some specific supports that Title I provides for John Marshall:
Personnel
- Title I Reading Interventionist
- Title I Math Interventionist
Graduation Intervention Specialist: Based on the data there was a strong need to retain a Retention and Intervention Coach for the 2019-2021 school year. It is our goal that with establishing this position the retention rate for each grade level will decrease, ultimately increasing the on-time graduation rate for the school. As an 11 month salaried position, the individual will have direct responsibility for all students who have been retained in grades 9th – 12th.
- Fresh Orientation Coach: Based on the data there was a strong need to retain a Retention and Intervention Specialist and a Freshmen Orientation Coach. Instruction must be differentiated and modified in order to keep reluctant learners engaged and in school. Technology that appeals to visual and tactile/kinesthetic learners, as well as highly trained teachers who are adept in such technology and differentiation is necessary. John Marshall has selected a well-respected instructional leader that set high expectations for student achievement.
- Attendance Specialists (Part-Time): Data reflects that during the 2018 - 2019 school year student attendance average was 89%. The School Attendance Support Team meets weekly to discuss unexcused absences of students. In order to ensure that the student participation rating is met, all efforts are needed to improve student attendance in school. Providing students with incentives will help to improve student attendance. It gives each child an opportunity to improve and gain recognition for individual efforts.
- Develop, Implement and Monitor an interdisciplinary AVID site team that will provide a platform for staff to share best practices and refine teaching methodologies based on discussions guided by student data (quantitative and qualitative).
- Parent Center/Edgenuity Lab : This lab would serve dual purposes. During the normal school day over aged/under credit John Marshall High school students who are not succeeding in a traditional classroom setting and who typically lack interest in a traditional school environment and are seeking another learning option. Specifically these are students who experience poor academic achievement; are chronically late or absent from school; are at high risk of dropping out of school.
- After school hours it will serve as a space for students and parents to meet, take classes and use as a Professional Training Environment. It offers a welcoming and engaging environment for parents, educators, and community members. We provide access to information and resources to support the success of all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs and disabilities.
