Lowell was born on April 7, 1775 and passed away on August 10, 1817. He was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. His father's name was John Lowell II, who was member of the Continental Congress and judge for the United States District Court for the District of Massachussetts. Lowell was an only child, and his mother's name was Susanna Cabot.
