Monday Memo
9-24-18
Great things!
Even though it was 100 degrees, you guys rocked the fire drill yet again! Great job getting kids out quickly and quietly! Classes/teachers/staff are accounting for missing kids in a timely manner and responding with locations. That is helpful!
Officer Myers visited Heather's class to talk about what it's like to help our community. They had a nice list of questions ready to ask him when he arrived. My favorite: "do you get to drive your car fast?" =)
Natasha's kids are learning about colors, and how they mix to make new colors, and travel through mediums. It was fun to hear their thoughts on what was happening and decisions on that the outcomes were!
We had a big bunch for September birthdays! Happy birthday to all of our teachers and students celebrating birthdays this month!
Challenge: Try to say a noticing statement to one adult or student each day. Try saying: "you _____so that _____" . That was helpful!" EX: You held the door open so that your friend could walk past! That was helpful!"
How do you want to be greeted?
Talking about the caterpillar we found outside.
Learning a new I Love You ritual!

Nuts-n-Bolts:
* Be sure to check the outside doors when leaving/returning. The back door by the cafe-gym-a-torium was found unlocked twice this past week at the mid-day. Please, please, please double check the latch/handle when you go out or come in.
* Websites were due to be updated by the end of the day Friday, September 28 (every 2 weeks)
* The "Back to Basics" challenge continues. I will be offering incentives at our building for completion of modules. Stay tuned......
* Car Rider/Bus Dismissal Line reminders:
--Please do not go out to have parent conferences with parents in the car dismissal line-this
holds up the line. If you need to speak with a parent-please ask them to pull around and
park, and you can meet with them then. This will help keep the line moving.
--Be sure to communicate any changes in student dismissals to the point person for those
areas (i.e. let the car rider point person know if someone went home early, tell the bus
point person if someone has been switched to a car rider or is absent)
--Please arrive for dismissal on time. We try to make the dismissal reminder at 3:50 for the
afternoon in an effort to start dismissal at 3:55 p.m. We do not make a morning reminder
since we have several dismissal times-please be mindful of the time when bringing your
class to the cafe-gym-a-torium.
* Don't forget to give your social dues (25$) to Shandi if you have not already done so. They are planning some neat things for the year-don't miss out!
* September library book shelving duty: Gayle . (October will be: Dan)
