Kia ora e te whānau,
The last couple of weeks have seen the tide turn on our attendance and I am delighted to report that apart from Covid-related isolation, very few parents are choosing to keep their tamariki at home. We are pleased that our community knows our kura (school) is a safe place for ākonga (learners) and understands that face-to-face learning is the best option for continued progress in learning.
The next few weeks of the term are very busy for our kura as our learners head off to their EOTC programmes. A reminder that payment must be made before the first activity day. Please contact Charlotte Crampsie email@example.com if you are unable to make the full payment before the first activity day and she will organise a payment schedule with you.
Engagement with our community is important to us and we have several events coming up that we encourage you to attend and take part in.

- On Wednesday, April 13 we would like to invite you to our first Whānau Hui for 2022 where we will share and discuss our updated Māori Education Plan.
- At the end of this term, your child's learning goals will be shared with you. You will have an opportunity in the first week of Term 2 to discuss these goals further with your child and their teacher - please see the details further down in this newsletter.

Who We Are - Health Focus
As mentioned in our last newsletter, part of the learning in this Unit of Inquiry will focus on puberty and content about physical development, gender identity, relationships, friendships, whānau, and social issues. We also have presenters from Attitude who will talk with our learners about major physical changes, emotional changes, and healthy head messages. The presenters are highly engaging and learners have responded to them well in the past.
Tomorrow evening, Wednesday 30 March, there will be an online parent and learner presentation 7pm - 8pm, also delivered by Attitude. This presentation introduces the holistic changes of puberty and will help start the sometimes awkward dialogue that parents and children have around this topic in a safe and fun way. The link to the presentation will be sent tomorrow morning.

Goal Setting Conversations - Wednesday 4 May
On Wednesday evening of the first week of Term 2, you will have the opportunity to join your child and their kaiako (teacher) in an online Goal Setting Conversation.
For Learners, Goal Setting Conversations are for:
hearing about strengths and gaps in learning and sharing these with parents/caregivers
identifying and sharing learning goals with parents/caregivers
discussing how successfully the learner is meeting the TNIS expectations (e.g.homework, key competencies and PYP Learner Attributes)
For Parents and Caregivers, Goal Setting Conversations are for:
accessing and discussing information about the child’s strengths and gaps, with parents and caregivers
accessing and discussing learning goals
accessing and discussing information relating to TNIS expectations (e.g.homework, key competencies and PYP Learner Attributes)
Our booking system will be available from next week and the meeting link will be available by the end of this term.
Kaiako and ākonga (learners) are looking forward to sharing their learning aspirations with you.

Highest Needs Review - Public Consultation
The Ministry of Education (MOE) is reviewing support for children and young people with the highest level of learning support need.
The vision for the Highest Needs Review is that children and young people with the highest learning support needs get the right support, at the right time, for as long as they need it.
The MOE would like to hear from a range of people to support the development of options and solutions to address barriers to education experienced by children and young people with the highest needs. These people include:
- Families, children and young people
- Whānau, hapū and iwi Māori
- Educators and support workers from early childhood to secondary settings and across English and Māori mediums, alternative, and specialist settings
- Peak bodies, advocacy groups, parent/caregiver groups, community groups and non-government organisations
- Professionals and specialists working in a range of settings including education, health, disability, and Oranga Tamariki settings
- Ministry of Education National and Regional Office teams
