Principal's Message

MES Families,

Happy Friday to all of you! I hope this newsletter finds you gearing up for a wonderful Spring weekend.

We just had an amazing week here at Madeira Elementary, where we allowed students to see, learn about, and create art.

GOT ART Week is one of the highlights of the school year and this year the amazing team of MES Volunteers(led by the sensational Katie Feldmann) did not disappoint. We were able to have students see and learn about a variety of artists and musicians.

We even learned about the process that architects use and how the upcoming MES addition project will use art, color, and design elements to make it a wonderful learning space for students. Students get hands-on experiences to connect with artists like Frank Lloyd Wright or Alexander Calder.

In addition to the GOT ART events and wrapping up the academics of the school year, MES students have been busy this spring both in and out of the classrooms. We have some photos in this newsletter of students helping teachers with building projects, winning weekend soccer tournaments, and an awesome student helping me out today as Principal for the Day.

Spring is a busy time but we so appreciate the support that you provide us as we work together. Thank you for sending us such amazing kiddos every day!

Young Authors Night 2022

One of the highlights of the school year that I experienced as an MES parent was the opportunity to see some of the amazing things my children had created and how they had grown academically during the school year.

It was also a fantastic time to thank the amazing teachers of Madeira Elementary, who go above and beyond every day.

Young Authors Night allows time for your family to swing through MES and be part of that same tradition that I so appreciated as a parent here.

We have updated our times for that night so please see below:

  • 4:30-5:30 Last Name A-K
  • 6:00-7:00 Last Name L-Z
  • 4:00-8:00 Book Shelf

Please note that we are asking families to stick to these times so we do not overwhelm the neighborhood.

Thank you!

Distinguished Staff Award 2022

I am so excited to share with all of you that yesterday one of our amazing teachers, Jonelle Bell was recognized by the Madeira Schools Foundation with the Distinguished Staff Award.

Jonelle has been an amazing part of this school and community and it was a special day to celebrate her.

She was selected for her years and years and years of leadership and work with the foundation's annual auction. She helped with grade-level baskets for years and gives of her time to the foundation annually.

Jonelle is a fixture at Madeira events and has a commitment to the students and families of Madeira that exceed the daily teacher duties and schedule.

Congratulations Jonelle for such a well-deserved honor!
