Love is in the Air---Not Just During this Season... But Everyday!

It is almost time for Valentine's Day! This is the time of the year that we often think about love. As educators, we think about love on a consistent basis as we Love, Care, and Serve the children that are in our class. Remember that phrase each and every day when you come to work and at home not only in this season, but every day of the year. I know that you love what you do and you love your students. That makes you such as positive influence in their life. If they don't get love from anywhere else, I know that they get it from you! Thank you for loving and educating your students! Your work is not done in vain.

Text Dependent Questions

Next week during planning, we are going to dig deeper with text dependent questions. If you are planning the close reading lesson, please bring the text and the questions. We will discuss them in planning or formulate questions if you have not done so already.

Learning Walks

Each grade level will participate in learning walks during your team planning which will take place the week of February 22-26. You will see a grade level below and above your grade level. You will not get to see everyone on the grade level that particular week. We will contact you if you are chosen so that you can structure your day around the visit (teaching close reading when you are being visited). If you would like to volunteer to host the first visit, please let me know. The goal is for everyone to be seen by the end of the year, so don't you all jump at once! :-)

Ghost Walks

We will take part in another Ghost Walk soon. The focus will be close reading (anchor charts, student work, etc.) Please make sure that you have these things in place.

Read Across America

Read Across America

It is about that time again!!!!!! The students will participate in Read Across America week again this year. There will be a door decorating contest again this year. K-3 will focus on their favorite book and 4-5 will participate in a college and career readiness project as well as decorate their door with college and career decor. Student work is an expectation for the door decorating contest so start to think about what you want your door to look like and carve time into your day for students to complete work that will be displayed on the door. Don't wait to the last minute! Detailed information about Read Across America week is forthcoming.
